Blue Root

WB is always source of inspiration and ideas. This week I took idea from License about how the intro to my "Green Plain" song a few weeks back could be turned into a full track. So I did that. In my happy place of sitting down playing a lot on the Push, getting into a flow and disappearing somewhere for few hours. Then taking bits I like. Also my happy place of lots of percussion, pitched and not, and chasing after a melody that I feel. Pretty much caught it. I would have liked more time to record my own percussion, perhaps some more vocal sounds. I joke around that one of my music goals is to get onto a Spotify Yoga playlist because I have a side where I enjoy creating some mellow things to just kind of space out with. I've always used music  for calm, and to escape and wander. So what do you think, Could this inspire some calm and flow, or still too crazy, hows the sound and mix? There's some sharp points edges in here I'd like to tame I think. Looking forward to hearing more of your music this week and more inspiration!

It's maybe a little jittery for full-blown relaxation, but don't get me wrong it's really awesome how it is.  If you want to get into full-blown ambient meditation you probably need to tone down some of the percussion, weird noises, and changes in sections.  But this is kind of like chill music that's hyped up on sugar pills, which is a pretty cool unique sound in its own right.

The rhythmsection is fantastic. It has a pretty groove and a dubby feel to it. The song comes into a nice flow and is rich in variety. The sound is pro. No complains. But like C.C. wrote: no full-blown chill.

I always love all the sounds layering and weaving in and out of your tracks, kind of like “bomb squad”, this one is more mellow then some of your other tracks but not sure if it would fall into the chill category but definitely could space out to it.

The percussion sounds awesome especially the tongue drum.  The track overall might be a bit more psychedelic than chill because of the crunchy beat.  But it's def got a good groove to it and that outro was super chill smile

Yeah totally, I had those same thoughts, but in the end had to keep all the little bits of sugared up hype in there to keep me interested as I went on. Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks! Yeah, thinking dubby. Glad you thought it flowed and mix worked out ok, that was a goal. Maybe one day I'll really try and get something super chill.

Hey thanks, big ups, love me some Bomb Squad! I worry that I pack my stuff too full of layers, but I guess that's just something I do now, glad it works for some people. Was just reading about bomb squad in a book about tribe called quest. Sometimes I feel like I don't know what's going on with hip hop these days. Is anyone doing anything like bomb squad ... would anyone like that now? I miss some good old classic boom bap. There might be a little of that around now, but not so much it seems.

Thank you! I'm loving this tongue drum virtual instrument (sample based) I have been using, came from Brian Funk. Lately have been thinking its time to get a real tongue or handpan drum, lovely sounds! Agree on the psychedelic label, good call. I may have to just put that label on everything I do. You are the master of good chill and an inspiration!

Nice.
