I spent this week playing around with the settings on Logic's ES2 synthesizer, trying to get to know it a little better. Turns out that there's a lot of cool things that you can do with routing! I also experimented a bunch with Ultrabeat, trying to craft the Perfect Kick™ but that's a little out of my skill range at the moment.

Still trying to figure out how Yasutaka Nakata puts his tracks together. There's some weird things he does with some of his background synths that I'm not quite sure I know how to replicate, but I think I'm starting to get closer. One thing's for sure, though, I need to spend a lot more time working on texture: I'm noticing that he usually has a lot of stuff going on really subtly in the background underneath the simple, bold synth lines, and my tracks sound kinda empty in comparison without it.

As always, critique is welcome!

this is a really cool track. i felt as if the beginning was leading up to something big but that sound wise it kid of fell flat. The reason for this is that the piano you have has some nice stereo that the snare you add in doesnt quite fill in. I think having a pan on the light arpeggio and bringing the snare more center would fill in where the piano drops out in the middle of the song
