Käärmepää

This dark and dramatic Finnish song is a continuation of the myth of "Minnamari Meduusa". (If you're curious about the earlier songs connected to that character you can check out my album Aave Meduusa).
The name of the song means Snakehead and I think the lyrics explain what it's about.. This song is a part of a forthcoming series of Finnish songs where my aim is to transmute old, suppressed anger and pain by singing about it in poetic yet raw and honest terms.
Process: I separately recorded ukulele and then sang onto that and also added some bass and high tones in the software (FL studio). It took some tweaking to synchronize the different tracks but I think it's close enough. The song turned out more flowy than I originally intended (earlier versions where I tried recording it just with ukulele I was outright screaming and it was more "punk"...but I let the song take me on a journey and just tried to follow along. I discovered, that sometimes, simply calmly stating something can be more menacing than screaming outright. Or what do you think?
Lyrics (translated to English)
------------------------------
You can't pull the hair of the snakehead anymore
No one can pull the hair of the snakehead anymore
or
the snakes will bite your fingers off
They bite your hands bloody
and the fingers off
The snakes will bite the fingers off off
and the hands bloody
I'll color my hair red with your blood
But you can't pull anymore
No, you can't pull anymore
Or the snakes will bite your fingers off
They'll bite your fingers off
(Original Finnish lyrics)
--------------------------
Käärmepään hiuksia sä et voi vetää enää
Käärmepään hiuksia ei kukaan voi vetää enää
tai
käärmeet puree sormes irti
Ne puree kädet verisiksi
ja sormet irti
Käärmeet puree sormes irti irti
Kädet verisiksi vaan
Värjään mun hiuksiani verelläsi punaisiksi
Mutta vetää et voi enää
Ei, vetää et voi enää
Tai käärmeet puree sormes irti
Ne puree sormes irti
