M8 Tracker + RE-303

2025 was a very unproductive year for me in terms of music, and my muscle for creativity has atrophied because of it.

This year, I plan to bend the rules just a tiny bit. Instead of shooting for a new song every week, I am easing back into the creative process by aiming for one song every month, and using the interim weeks to either refine or iterate on that month's idea. I want to be able to focus on the process over the pressure but still have some deadlines.

This first entry is kind of like looking at a page of sketchbook thumbnails with each section being some kind of iteration of each other, the same idea skewed into different paths I could take or ultimately converge back into.

hooooooly crap this goes hard! the beat is thumping and that bass is freaking nasty

also the vocal samples splice throughout are a killer touch~ great stuff!!

crazy stuff here, the fragmented/skittering sound at 1:20 is wild

HOT!! Very cool track, glad to see you doing the WBeats in 2026~

those vocal chops are so good. Love the breakdown around 1:20 too.

Zero fucks anthem...ending in a nice 90s d&b stepper with an amen tease finale. I love it.

drum programming on lock

That crystalline vocal sample treatment is sick!

Nice seeing you in 2026 still hammering at it. The skittering and hard rests feel great. Can't wait to see what else you do this year.

Love it smile

"My creative muscle has ateophied"
Well, would've fooled me. I like the iteration idea. Already curious to see where this will go!

I like that plan. Usually creativity isn't exactly a "muscle" that can atrophy, but a can of soda that's waiting to burst open, and every time you don't engage, you shake it a little.
That's how we see it anyway.

babe wake up. mikey303 music dropped

the way that vocal sample feels pulled apart sounds absolutely amazing. can i ask what that is? it's awesome heart

starting off stronk with the spastic textures!  but u broke the wb rules so i'm afraid i cannot acknowledge this track in any way shape or form

+1 awesome vocal chopping

the vocals come from a sample pack by iglooghost. I have them set to be gated by the kick drum on top of the slicing/processing I've programmed, so it makes them sound extra syncopated. I hadn't really tried it before and the results turned out really well, I think!

jesus richard d james christ my friend, the chops here are spectacular. I'm a sucker for vocals where it's always hovering around the edges of being a phrase but often comes out as just... things that aren't quite real words.

love when we go to rave town around the 1:30 mark. wasn't surprised to hear you of all people bring the 303, but then rave stabs too! last half is giving like the latter half of prodigy - experience.

super fun. hyped to hear more.

this is trippy! good job!

I like the Monthly Beat idea, great way to bend the challenge to serve you.  And, interesting to think of this track as thumbnail sketches... it still feels pretty cohesive to me... like a classical theme and variation piece... but like through an IDMy glitch-hopped lens (I don't genres are hard).  Dope track.

leave some for us maybe??? big_smile u killed it, what an absolute banger. excited for more!

Miiiikey! Been a while, this is hella dope. Love the vocal chops.

The vocal is such a ear catcher! Perc and bass are superb! Worthy to have it on repeat

This grooves so hard. Love the little pockets of breathing room in that stuttery rhythm.
Sounds like there's nothing wrong with that creative muscle, already flexing it.

There's the signature 303 in the opener for 2026!

It's a very successful pairing with the vocal chops in the section before. It's been a few minutes since the track finished playing and I'm still hearing it in my head. You say your muscle has atrophied, but clearly even at this state you could still lift half of WB with one hand.

Then again, this is no surprise. We have M8. This guy's M303.

This is goooooood! Love it

ain't called mikey303 for nothing. so good, great use of space in this

This goes insane. Love the glitchy rave stabs.

Ooh, absolutely fantastic!

Love the organized chaos, downloading for radio

ahhh have my blind children fav

this is super sick - hope to see you today for February's contribution? smile
