There was no magnetic tape, warbling cassette, or analog reel involved in this recording. Still, I wanted to achieve a warm, analog sound.

Here’s how I did it: I made a simple beat on the SP-404, jammed a bit on the Rhodes 54, and added some guitar through my Moogerfooger pedals.

Like Chris Stieber once told me, the real value of a Rhodes piano is that you can hit almost any keys you like — it always sounds good. As someone who isn’t really a piano player, that’s absolutely true. It lets me create a jazzy vibe without much effort.

Enjoy.

Rhodes magic! I would have mistaken it for a sample had you not said you played it. Nice work.

I would argue the special sauce is not entirely the Rhodes, though it is pretty magical. This is a wonderful, inviting, relaxed beat. I would stay up until 3am chatting with it on the summer porch as the distant breeze we hear never quite reaches us.

Thank you very much for listening. I am very sorry not to be able to leave comments to your tracks, because I am so occupied with my new work at an ICU and also struggle to produce a beat every week at the moment.

You can only stretch yourself so thin, and commenting is not a WB requirement. I feel bad I can only comment on a small percentage of tracks each week but I was lucky enough to catch yours this week! Focus on your well-being and enjoy life smile

Nice and warm
I'm sure they got VSTs now that do that stuff
