Prelude To A Curse

By Martiln on June 11, 2016 5:12 am

So, I didn't have a whole lot of time this week, I've been drowning in work and other stuff. But, I recently got a Zoom H6 for a project I'm doing and have been doing a lot of field recording around the city, so I thought I'd do something using some of the recordings I've taken. I also tried to do something different in that there are no drums in this track, so, that's new.
Anyway, I actually really enjoyed making this track and it only took me about 2 hours, so that's a bonus. Hope you guys enjoy it!

P.S. I did a video walkthrough of Singularity, but apparently Audacity sucks and likes to insert clicks and pops everywhere throughout all the audio, rendering it essentially unlistenable (to me at least). I'll re-do it again later on this week and try and get it out by next week's deadline. Sorry guys, I hope you can forgive me!

Have you tried rebooting your computer?

This is a great piece, Matt. I would quite like to hear the curse.

Great big synth sound really builds! Well done and so different from last week. I like the background ambient sounds in the beginning.

I recorded it on my desktop which I reboot at least once a day, so I don't think that would have anything to do with it. I did about 45 minutes of recording and then only realised that there were loads of little clicks and pops when I went to edit it. Weird thing is that they only started happening about 10 minutes into the actual recording and are imbedded within the audio file, basically waves that have been cut off, which is super strange. I figure it must be something to do with the sample-rate or something, I'll figure it out...
Glad you liked the piece though, Vince! big_smile I'm very much looking forward to hearing the curse as well!

Thanks! Yeah, I really wanted to try something different this week just as a change of pace, glad to hear that it worked out well! big_smile

Great job with no drums!  Refreshing!

Those are some massive synths. Love how the track just keeps building throughout.

Thanks orangedrink, glad you like it! Was nice and refreshing for me as well to try something a little different, will definitely do more stuff like it in the future I reckon.

Thanks Plantrain! Glad you enjoyed it and like the synths! big_smile

Great work!
Lovely emotional Piece

How awesome is this?! I want more. This gets to the point where you've risen up to the top of a mountain and you get to look at the other side for a brief moment, and then it ends. I need more!! Where's the rest of this cursed mountain?! Nice work as always, dude!

Your "synth only" piece is wonderful! I love how the synths shine in your tracks, and the way you make everything move...

It's great to hear you in a different mood or context. Really looking forward to that video walkthrough

Thanks Alphaglitch! Don't worry, the rest of the cursed mountain that you speak of is on it's way...
Glad to hear you like it. smile

Thanks Laguna! Should get around to the video walkthrough this week, I think I managed to figure out the kinks of the recording, so we'll see...
Glad you enjoyed the piece! smile
