Chronitect - Return To Dust

Back again for 2026!
After a wicked run in 2024 that helped me really define an artistic style and voice, I wanted to return to keep up the writing and keep pumping out the tunes!
Last time, my challenge to myself was to add my own vocals to everything. This year, my challenge is to have a story with every single submission. I want to do this as it ties in with the storytelling and worldbuilding part of my artistic project, and I want to get better at writing (because I'm not very good at it!). Mostly this will just be a little 150-word micro-story, but sometimes it'll be longer. This week is just a micro-story.

Blood poured down Karno’s face, streaming into his eyes and clouding his vision. Heat radiating from the fiery rubble and debris burned his skin, dense and poisonous air filled his lungs and echoing screams were muffled by the ringing in his ears.
Not yet. Karno thought to himself.
He drew on the Essence around him, using them to heal what he could as he felt open wounds heal over and cracked bones force themselves back into place with a horrific crunch. Karno wiped the blood from his eyes and turned his attention towards the enemy ahead of him. There was nothing that was going to stop him from finishing his mission.
“You’re coming down with me!” Karno yelled. “This city will burn, and all of us with it.”
He drew on the last of his reserves.
This is it. Let us all return to dust.
