Baroque Machinery

By Lyons on February 28, 2016 11:48 pm

So neglecting Weeklybeats at the moment
This piece uses a recorded computer drone on 3 channels and a separate solo double bass channel.
Centre is pitched to G
Left is transposed up 2 octaves
Right is transposed down 2 octaves.

I improvised in a 'baroque' style over the top of the original drone then added some EQ tweaking to follow the contour of the 'melody'. In hindsight I apologize for my crappy last minute improv.

Hearing improvisation is always fascinating. Turned out good!

It could've been a lot worse.

This is really cool. Can you elaborate on what makes it baroque?

Nice melodic construction, nice contexts. I really like those chords at the start. Good stuff.

Sorry to catch up so late in the week, Lyons

I think it sounds quite nice as a melodic piece... The drone is just vaguely there, almost like floor noise. It would be worth exploring a more "visible" drone in the future IMHO

Nice piece. Not crappy at all

Are the 'wind sounds' the drones? They sound really cool especially how they interact!
