All Out of Water

By Lukayu on January 14, 2024 11:03 pm

So what a messed up week again haha I swear life is trying to get me to not write so damn music. After I was sick last week, my kid got super sick. Then the water in my RV froze over and stopped working completely so that's been a whole thing. Then every time I would plug in my Audio Interface by pc would blue screen(found out it was all because of McAfee) But in the end I got a few hours to work something out. I also finally figured out how to get my guitar working in reaper so its been a really fun week learning more on recording. I'm mostly looking forward to writing next week now that I believe I've worked out all my issues! But until then, enjoy this short and slow headbanging tune!

Sorry it's been a rough week bud! It's cool that you're starting to find the flow of things though, looking forward to next weeks tune when you don't have so much going on at once!

For this tune I dig the bellular synth that you got going on for the main hook and it's cool to hear some doomy guitar towards the end too smile

I really like the intro. The mix of sounds really builds some tension. I like how you have it go really quiet around 1:10 or so before you bring the guitar in. That rolling tom pattern with the guitar sounds pretty heavy!

Great use of the synths leading up to the guitar break. I like it!

You know whats cool is that synth at the beginning is actually the drum midi for the guitar part haha. And MORE DOOM!

Thanks man, yeah, this tune kinda works as an intro to an album kinda haha I'm so glad to finally play some guitar too, as little as there is in this song.

Damn, I'm always so impressed with folks with children who manage to get in the time for music. We just had our first, she's 15 months and still not so good at sleeping...

Really cool sounds in this one. Love the base frequencies coming from the... floor tom? Not sure what that is. A doomy, meditative quality here. Classic heavy metal guitar tone to send it home.

You know, that's actually a good idea for composing. Since drums are the instrument you're most familiar with, write some complicated drum patterns and then put those midi notes on a new synth track and drag the notes around until you find new melodies you're satisfied with (with the interesting rhythmic complexity of your drum playing).

Yeah, it is insane how much time you lose when you have a kid. Mine is just 5 months and I almost gave up on this week but my wife made me at least take a few hours to try and get something done. And yep, them floor toms gooood!
