Neo Noir (anachronism)

By littlebigmosaic on August 11, 2024 11:49 pm

This was a quick beat. I had a few concepts stewing in my head but decided to throw them out and start with a blank slate. Sometimes a blank slate is needed... will revisit the other ideas next time. I started with a vintage-y piano that reminds of a film noir scene. I just built on top of that going whichever direction felt right. The 1930's black and white movie scene kinda morphed into the early 2000's with retro video game sounds, 808 kicks and hip hop fragments. I imagine the black and white scene turning orange and blue. I am working on making more space for the subtle foley details - striking that balance between music and space / scene. Let me know what you think!

Thanks for listening.

i really like how you brought all these elements together.nice work, Adam!

yooooo this is DOPE.  The chiptuney elements are great, really open up the beat.  And the little vocal stabs (maybe) on the transitions as like risers almost... so nice.  The change up around 0:40 is dope too... and the melody in that section.... damn this is a killer beat.

Looove a warbly piano. Was shook (in a good way) when everything else came in at :13 lol The whole vibe feel great. The break at :42 was also such a cool transition.

Wow, really like that vintage piano intro and that thumb bass line underneath all the warps, blings, and hip hoppy elements that emerge.  Really awesome mix for just a “quick beat”.

Warbly piano for the win! I'm glad the vibe was good. This was a meandering experiment but super fun to make in my 90 minute Sunday afternoon window smile

Thanks! Somehow it sorta came together lol. seems like a family collab may be coming in the future...

I think this is fantastic, such nice movement in this, can certainly appreciate all the little nuances in this, like all the little vocal chops.

this is really nice, love the chiptune elements on top of the piano track, really well done

Nice head bobbin vibe to this one. Good use of those subtle vocal chops.

oooh yais when the chippy bloop hit with the piano and beat my head instantly started nodding along.  Love the groove in the middle too and ooof the bass in this sounds awesome too.  Nice work!
