240304 RYTM Drexciya ripoff

extended one of a handful of sketches from this week. just muting and unmuting one pattern to create some kind of structure. had another very different thing I wanted to use for this week, but that's not ready yet. still too many irons in the fire. fortunately I was at least able to pump this out quickly with the RYTM pattern set up.

Ahhh, sweet electro vibes! Definitely feeling the Drexciya influence. LEGENDS.

Analog Rytm crew represent! Sounds massive.

Nitpick: the whiney pad is somewhat unexpected and a bit tinny. For that I'd try more reverb, maybe try going an octave lower.

Simple and effective. Good use of the RYTM. I love mine but mostly as a sample source these days.

I think these might be cool to explore or a sampled chord/mono note could be cool. I am hesitant to make suggestions though as I quite like how it is currently. I think the minimalism is working well already.

Agreed, hence I prefixed mine with "nitpick". It's just an off-hand comment, not a big deal, you can ignore it no problem.

yes!! I love them! as soon as I stumbled on that slappy snare I knew exactly to do with it big_smile wish I could remember which tune I was ripping off, I think there's a bit of "Wavejumper" in there for sure. Harnessed the Storm is probably my overall fave, though, especially for the colder months.

thank you, I love the RYTM! I go through cycles with Elektron stuff. I love the workflow but eventually feel a bit constrained by some thing or other, then I go off and use something else for a bit that ends up being more awkward except for certain use cases. the RYTM I've probably spent the least time with, but I love how physical it is with the pads and all the other performance niceties. also the TX81Z was my first synth, so good velocity modulation is always welcome.

I agree that the pad was a little off. it was a last minute thing where I knew the pattern needed a little something, but it was a bit heavy-handed. I think I could've either muted it a little more often, or made it more sparse (like a pad note every 2 bars instead of every bar, plus some conditional trigs). I think the filtering could've been tweaked a bit too - there's a nasally quality to where it's at now, where it could've been more mysterious and murky with the cutoff just a little lower. or even dropped the volume a bit.

thank you! it's a mean, mean sampler and I keep meaning to use it for that more. what kinds of things do you do with it?

sampled chord/note is a great idea. when I'm daydreaming about the RYTM I tend to think about its ability to resample, especially from multiple tracks at a time. for some reason I have barely done that at all. I think there is something sort of "slippery" about its gain staging compared to, say, the Digitakt. maybe I just need to spend more time with it and develop a better mental model of that.

all good, getting feedback is a HUGE part of what's great about WB, and yours is great! please always feel free to be critical of my stuff, it is much appreciated heart

really dig this beat  heart

solid groove, squirmy, but still solid, healthy. I should listen to some Drexciya, been meaning to. How did I miss them back in the day, I do not know. RYTM sounds dope. Good job pumping it out!

oh yes, this here is a Delectro goody for sure! Giving me even more of a bug to make more.

It's a banger!

oh man they are the best. top 5 ever for me. see also: Dopplereffekt's first LP, and DJ Stingray is still all killer no filler.
