The Day Has Come

By lhrin on February 9, 2024 4:19 pm

I read a short essay discussing some of the approaches society/culture to living life together. Life can be many things that include pain/hardship and beauty/joy. There are many ways to cope with our living and many ways to “feel” about what happens to us. Sometimes what feels inevitable can change with a new outlook or new opportunity. This song came out of my musings.

I collaborated with Billy (guitar) and Blighters_rock (drums and mixing). Thank you!

Lyrics:
The day has come (It’s always tempting to give into the pain)
The night is done (Suspect the forecast to predict only rain)
The press begun (To live as cracks in the dry, thirsty ground)

The mist stands still (The victim’s stance is so easy to take)
It cups the light (To live in trance and refuse to wake)
It feeds the chill (In flesh it’s hard to tend to the hurt)
And dims the sight (To rise above when rooted in dirt)

Do you seek to find a savior
Are you on your trail of fears
Can you fulcrum, can you lever
If opportunity appears

The shadow shifts (The rain will come to wash the grey off the day)
The drift exposed (Yarn can be spun to reveal a new way)
A hope exists (New eyes can color what the world can be)
The song composed (Distance holds possibility)

An empty hand (Empty canvas can divine the art)
An open mind (Ideas can flame up from the smallest spark)
Compels a plan (The music swells at the conductors’ sway)
A chance is found (A plan with clarity along the way)

Do you seek to find a savior
Are you on your trail of fears
Can you fulcrum, can you lever
If opportunity appears

The day has come

Really like the call/response vocals in the verses, and the chorus has a great groove. Great song!

Cool! Great song. Rhyming one song is hard enough (for me). Rhyming two then creating one from them is over the top. The whole song has a great groove and great harmonies. Very nice work!
