This one's partly a throwback to another WeeklyBeat from last year:

Hope it turned out okay. Happy Week 4!

It turned out great! Love the vibe here.

I like the xylophone (?) you're using, and how its percussive quality contrasts with the lush layers of synth that rise and fade. The accoustic guitar brings another type of texture quality, raw and crisp. I like the soundscape you made here.

so peaceful and wholesome, looking forward to hearing more.

The marching snare is pretty cool there. Feels like you prepare for some invasion, but the acoustic guitar solo sends us to a more peaceful place. I liked that a lot. smile

Very dramatic tense sound with lost of space.  Reminds me a bit of Tangerine Dream. Love the marimba pattern against the slow swells.

oooo that guitar adds another level to what would already be super great vibe

Awesome man, love all the brass swells that keep popping up. The guitar goes great over this too.

It turned out more than just okay. It has a great cinematic jazzy Steve Reich-ness on board.

haha, i was playing guitar along with this track, when your guitar set in with almost the same notes. made my day...!

This has a cool feeling of anticipation to it, like setting out from home on a long and difficult journey. String swells are life heart

Beautiful, sounds like it'd fit perfectly at the start of an epic modern JPRG.

This is fantastic. Second 2haf's comment about the feeling of anticipation. I'm picturing this as the music to placing your troops before battle for a tactics or fire emblem game. The guitar is a real highlight for me, subtle but very effective.

The Reilly Farrell Orchestral Concert:

Full orchestra on stage playing your tunes, while someone (you?) is playing some super emotional RPG on the movie screen.  You're conducting the orchestra with your RPG choices.

Everyone is in tears at the end of the show!

Is that not a real guitar?  I really don't know what to believe anymore.

I know it's been a rough time for all, but 2020 wasn't last year

Nevertheless, a very nice after-battle conclusion song and no needlessly long suspension chords

Devieus, see here-
*Checks calendar* Oh. You're right.

had run their course and gone,
I looked up, and two years had passed -
Goodbye, 2021. sad

Hehe, I don’t think I’m near that level yet, but that’s kind of you to say! (If I’m not mistaken, I think they actually did something like that for Austin Wintory’s Journey. It’s a neat concept for a concert!)

Thanks everyone! Glad to hear the guitar melody resonated with people. It’s actually just a stock Logic steel-string acoustic with a bit of velocity tweaking. I was worried it would sound too artificial (still do, to be honest). If time allows one week, I’d love to collaborate with an actual guitarist!

Thanks so much! JRPG’s (and also Zelda games) definitely inspired me to write music in the first place.
(Hent03, you actually hit the nail on the head. That was my inspiration for this track!)

As a fan of both of these things, that's really nice to hear! Thank you both. big_smile

Thanks so much! I appreciate the feedback.

I love the title because I immediately want to play some Final Fantasy tactics haha. This tune in particular has a vibe like you're hanging out in the tavern looking over the available quests before heading out on a mission.

Smooth! I'm really curious about the samples or sound sources you use, the guit is ultra clean. Lovely track. Just sharing an idea for more contrast in the overall track, the snare rolls could be a bit louder and be present only in some sections of the track. Or maybe a gradual fade in during sections..

Thanks! Most of it was Cinesamples VSTs, but the guitar was actually a stock instrument sound from Logic - just with a decent amount of velocity tweaking. Good point about the snare too - one of the things I'm trying to work on more these days is varying up the percussion.

Thanks! I get the feeling I'd love FF Tactics if I ever got to give it a shot. I certainly love the soundtrack! heart
