sleepless night

Felt a bit burned out and tired this week, so I can't say I felt great about anything I came up with. I've definitely been feeling the title though. That may have something to do with it.
Well, that happens. Anyway, Happy Week 18, and Happy May!

I like the use of cellos especially in this track. The mix is nice, the instruments are really in their own place.

That's okay; I feel great about it!  This track has a beautifully distinct, laconic character with introspective undertones that really sets it apart from the rest of this week's playlist.  It's a feat selling a mood that big and evocative from such sparse voicing and a laid-back tempo, but the effect really grabs your attention.  The instrumentation is spot-on, too.

I've been in a similar mood lately, and I'd bet (you already know) your title has a lot to do with it.  It's hard to get enthused about or appreciate anything while tired, and being burnt-out can be like a living death.  And on the subject of similar moods: I think we actually shot for a (vaguely) similar melancholic vibe in our "string" parts this week, although we went very different routes.  I wonder if that's a coincidence, or if there's some kind of cause/effect thing going on.

It does. sad   But I'm glad you posted this week, even if you didn't feel great about it.  Take care of yourself, and when you're in a better place come back to re-listen this track.  You might be surprised.

This is relaxing, like the night, but there is a dissonance - the sleeplessness.

whoa.  that really hit deep.  thank you?  I think?  smile

It's calming, relaxing, and yet... those choirs are ominous.

I really like this. It has a really beautiful simplicity about it and the atmosphere is quite nice. Definitely captures the mood of not being able to sleep

Thanks! I still wish I'd done better developing the material, but I'm glad the arrangement worked out okay.

Eh, most choirs I've met are friendly. It's the chipmunked timpani hits you need to watch out for. I think they're up to something... tongue

Thanks! Glad to hear it, because I definitely wanted to sleep but couldn't when I wrote the track. tongue
