My first attempt at a battle theme this year (and hopefully not the last). It came out a bit rough but I had fun practicing writing in a higher-energy style. Happy Week 9!

This is great! The energy level of the drums fits the bill for a battle theme. The part that enters at 1:12 is so powerful, also evokes a familiar feeling - probably some thematic link to a previous track? Just the right balance of feeling like we're still in the same story but a track and tone that is clearly distinct from the others. The key change(?) at 2:44 feels like that moment when you reach the final phase of a boss battle and things get really sweaty haha.

Ooh awesome! Really big fan of the plucks coming forward around 2:10ish or so - really lovely little switch-up section from the supersaws. Also totally on board for the key changes and drama... and the bells aw yeah smile

I've said this before, but I want to play the game this music should be for. I must do battle with the flower girl. I imagine it would be a super badass jrpg action-adventure like Crosscode or something. The percussion on this song goes hard. And oh man, I love that ending at 3:00. Those descending sci-fi chords over the bells are just amazing.

The fight with flowerblight Ganon we deserved.
Having this play in the background of an actual game, it feels somehow lacking in the equalization, notably the bass. The song is a banger, but needs slight tweaks to be as menacing as it could be.

the guitar-like layers are really good, with the delay effect. It sounded like a river. Very cool drum beat to support this boss battle track!

ohhh yeah retro dreamy, reminds me of depech mode. love it

Love the infectious groove of the drums.  The synths give it that spacely feel and the chord progression especially towards the end def gave me battle theme vibes.  The church bells hopefully signifying victory over evil! Go m00n dudes! smile

Really cool driving progression here.

Wow - the definition of a track that builds!!  Love the way this one progresses

Now I am ready for the fight heart

diggin' this energy!

Thanks so much! And you're right on the mark - the melody at 1:12 is from the previous week's track. It's a melodic theme that's becoming pretty important for a particular character. wink

Thanks! I tried to squeeze as much drama out of this one as I could. Still getting into practice writing battle tracks, but I'm glad to hear that something worked okay with this one.

Really appreciate hearing that. heart Someday I'd love to make music for something playable. Love the CrossCode shoutout by the way!

Hehe, Flowerblight Ganon. big_smile

And thanks for the test run and feedback. I've gotten similar feedback from others that this track fell short of boss-battle aggressiveness, and in retrospect I think your critique about the lack of bass content was right on the money. I'll see if I can fix that with future battle theme attempts.

Out of curiosity, what game were you testing it out on?

Thanks! I've been practicing making better use of electric guitar in my tracks this year. Hopefully I'm on the right track.

Hehe, thank you! Turns out this wasn't a battle between good and evil - just between characters that needed time to get to know one another. But I'm really glad to hear you liked it all the same!

Thanks! Very glad to hear it.
Although I don't think this track is even old enough for a learner's permit yet. tongue

Glad to hear you found it invigorating! I'd love to write RPG soundtracks someday so I'm hoping I can capture that vibe with my battle tracks.

Thank you! Likewise, digging the gif. smile

I think she was testing it on hololive saves the fans, which is a take on the vampire survivors thing

do me a real quick favor and release an album that comes with an illustrated zine with the story line and the characters and everything thanks

love the heavy "synthy feel" on the lead

i always want your drums a little louder but that's my personality i think

awesome guitar surprise end fadeout

That’d be awesome! Here’s hoping I can wrap up a zineworthy story by the end of the year.

Duly noted. I’m still learning my mixing preferences so the feedback definitely helps. Maybe I’ll try more drum-centric mixes at different points in the year.
