“Everyone in Flower Tower Town can feel it. The air is different. Electrified. Saturated with pollen like never before. The whole city’s on edge.

One thing’s for sure: something’s growing at the Flower Tower. Something new. Something strange. Something they don’t want us to know about.

And I’m going to find out what.”

Reimagining a 2024 WeeklyBeat. (I was happy people liked the original! I just always wished I’d had more time with the material before the deadline.)
setting out

I feel like a direction for this new year of WB is finally starting to take form. Just hope I can pull it off.

Guess we'll see - next week. wink

In the meantime - Happy Week 3 everybody!

That electric guitar that comes in at 30s with the echos is so sweet. Great percussion. The e guitars are back at 2:40 with those pads and now they are even dreamier! This sounds so awesome. Nice work!

I enjoy the laid back vibe of this track. The lead melody sounds like it was played on a guitar? Is that correct or is that synth?

Ooof love the tone of the main melody and how it cuts thru the head nodding bass n drums.  I remember the original after taking another listen.  That arp is still just as hypnotic!  What looms for Flower Tower!? yikes

That's a real sexy sounding guitar. Love it already

Nice! I love hearing the original conception of this song and then hearing the complete vision for what you meant for it to be. The midi guitar is swell wink And I love that the narrative is back!

epic

i stand by this comment from the original!
very excited to hear where you take us this year heart

loving the drums on this one. This one just keeps you moving, a lot of great energy and build. SOLID

I'm not entirely sure why, but this track made me think of a Gordan Lightfoot track, that like hit me in the feels... Great like synth-wave energy, but like the guitars fit perfectly... and then the harmonic progression... yeah... it's like a love letter to nostalgia for me.

sick midi guitar! And hey ostinato! And WOWW the difference in energy between the original and this one! I don't even wanna say "improvement" because I loved the softer choir-heavy quality of the original, but damn this reimagining is so much more epic!

really great track, those pads are so pretty!

Huge wide-open atmosphere as usual. I would love to stick on your tunes while driving through epic scenery.

here for the guitar, love it. Great drums, love that snare sound, hits like an 80s snare.

This is amazing!

The guitar lead is awesome, nice atmosphere. Drums were a little too upfront for my taste but from what I’ve read, I should give the 2024 version a go too!

"“Everyone in Flower Tower Town can feel it. The air is different. Electrified. Saturated with pollen like never before. The whole city’s on edge."

This is exactly the vibe I felt and wanted to comment on it before I read your description.
It made me remember a Cleveland Brown show episode where they start with exactly those same vibes.

Also, great track, everything feels solid, totally late 80's, early 90's summer vibe.

Don't ask me why but it made me think of the OG Unreal game... good work!

Yes, exactly!!!

The description of flbwhays going on in flower town made me think of a Pokémon game. But then when I hit play, it sounded way more synthwave-y than I expected. But it makes total sense! Pokémon trainers driving into the sunset, trying to find out the mysteries of their home town. Hahahaha...

Such a warm and thick sound here, love it!

Thanks! It's actually a guitar vst - didn't play it on an actual guitar but had fun writing the melody!

Guess we'll find out. wink Thanks so much for the feedback on both the original and the follow-up!

Interesting! Gordon Lightfoot's always good in my book. Thanks for listening and for sharing!

Thanks for listening! I'm definitely working on fine-tuning my drum mixing this year, so I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks! I'm exploring the idea of putting together a mock synthwavy RPG soundtrack this year, so hopefully there'll be more to come. wink

LCB live band

me - drums
viridian - guitar
tone matrix - synth

Ooooooh those guitars!!! They feel like eagles soaring over boundless plains.
Great sound design on this! It feels so expansive.

Wow, this is so epic! Interesting how different this one feels, partially due to tempo, but also a lot of more subtle changes to instrumentation and textures. I'm pretty excited if we get more reimagined favorites from your (amazing) catalog of music this year. I may also follow your lead here and look for opportunities to do the same.

If you do, I'd be excited to hear the results! You've got an amazing catalogue of music under belt already, and I've got some old favorites I'd be over the moon to hear come back in any direction you want to take them. 😉 Old or new, always looking forward to your stuff!
