Doing life for the first time

This was not what I had in mind when picking up my guitar sunday morning to start writing. Somehow, whenever I start playing riffs on my guitar, I go for this uptempo riff-heavy kinda style. My first time writing some rock music in a while. I think the riff is fun, albeit kinda repetitive over time. This was all made from scratch in a day, so there's only so much I could do until I became too tired for new ideas. Could use some ear candies and synths maybe, but that's not happening today. Nevermind the lyrics, I mostly just wanted to sing something, so I'm just happy I could come up with something vaguely coherent. A little angsty maybe.
Recorded with my guitar and bass in Studio One 5, drums programmed using Addictive Drums 2 from XLN Audio (Kit: Fairfax Vol.1). Threw me back to my very first attempts at writing my own music back in 2009 (I think), with MAGIX Music Maker 15. I had been playing drums for a few years back then and loved writing parts for me to learn OR that were entirely unplayable. I also realized that, while rhythm came easy, it was kinda tricky to write chords and melodies using trial and error, so I started taking guitar lessons to learn writing around that time as well. Good times.

Aw, thank you! Did a decent amount of touch up with Melodyne, I'll be honest - but vocal production is pretty fun. smile

Wow, thanks! I guess I'm surpirsed everytime myself, because I rarely start with a plan.

Super cool to hear you doing a full on rock song! Solid sounds and mixing. The riff doesn't get repetitive because it's a really solid one and there's enough change around it to keep it interesting throughout the song.
Extra props for the backing vocals, they really add a lot of flavor!
