Bad Intel

Followed Jeremys advice from this Red Means Recording Video and took a track to study and to "steal" from. So this track is a spiritual emulation of Weeklybeats very own Wangus - tmi.
I sat down with a notebook and scribbeled two entire pages of notes on how the track is structured, how it develops and little highlights that I noticed. I then used those notes as a blueprint to start developing a new track.

I don't think this holds up in comparison, but overall I'm still quite pleased with the track in a vacuum. It's 100% synthesized on the M8. The biggest weakspot so far is that I don't feel it's paced as well as tmi. For some reason, my groove doesn't carry as far without becoming repetitive and also doesn't seem to reach the same climax. I'm pretty happy with the sound design though. Overall it was a great learning experience and I can only recommend copying your favorite tracks as exercise!

Sweet work! It's sooo hard to copy all the intricate details that make up Wangus' style. This one feels more relaxed, neater, an interesting crossover between his style yours. A very cool track that holds its own, and a super fun idea I might just steal for a future week.

Thank you! I highly recommend the process. It taught me a bunch.

This went a great way to sound incredibly raunchy while staying very clean. There's so much wub woops to love going on in this. Even the transitions all bring something new. You can tell you've been doing this a good while πŸ€™πŸ»πŸ”₯

I liked your song, it’s fun. By description you put a lot of work into it and it shows. To me, its reminiscent of a 16bit pilot game.

really fun track and approach. well executed! that 1 min section rips.
oooh then that lead @ 2:40ish daaaaang

OOh, this is sweet, really like the bass and ... yeah, great sound design here.
