WARNING - I'm playing around with feedback again, please be careful with your ears.

There is a great show on Shudder called Deadwax about a cursed record, it's certainly worth a watch.  I was taken by one of the pieces of music in the first episode which had  a single repeating beat throughout and thought I'd give that a shot.  I also wanted to set up a few tracks of feedback to swim about however they felt like it.  If I ever give death industrial a try I will revisit this I think.

Made in Ableton

My fave Cryo Chamber compilation is Hastur, and this piece really evoked all of the aspects of that composition that I love - a tremendous sense of space, the evocation of things absolutely massive as well as minute and intangible, things far away, things whispered up close. I'll need to watch Deadwax now. The feedback is expertly manipulated, no threat of hurting my ears with this one, it was really amazing. So evocative - could not stop the images and imaginings from entering my head.

Side note - I received your email about your process and thank you again for sending that, I've had a hell of a week and no time to reply or listen to Weekly, but thank you, it was really informative and I appreciate you taking the time!

No pressure but TOTALLY PRESSURING YOU I am looking forward to your inevitable EP lol.

Haven't watched deadwax yet, but sounds like it would be up my alley!
Also, this was indeed super eerie and ominous, super cool!

I wanna say nice one but I don’t think nice is the right word. Dark atmosphere, could definitely feel something is cursed with this one. And yes get this in the death industrial folder for future smile Dead wax sounds cool I will check it out!

Oh dang. I've always loved using sub-bass type kicks in ambient like this, but always used them as an off-beat accent...an occasional type thing. Actually giving the piece a *pulse* using one is an amazing feel - like ominous inevitability. All the other elements are off-beat enough that you're never quite able to settle into comfort with that beat, though...perfect. The feedback is like a wraith weaving around the behemoth making its slow way towards you. Well done on that feedback, too - hard and grating, but never uncomfortable. You tamed the beast *just enough*. (I will also add to the non-pressuring pressure - very much looking forward to your album smile )

Also: death industrial? Sign me up.

appreciate the warning, but yeah - this was a really excellent mix and while the feedback was present it didn't get painful. so deep and detailed. super into it

the warning scared me more than needed lol smile the pad has an almost slowed down harmonica sound to it, really cool.  The sub-bass thumps are frightening with those faded-in-cello-growls? whatever that growly sound is oof combined with the kick really gets the mood achieved.  Excellent sound and atmosphere.
