The plan for week 39:
1 - try to make a track that conveys the feeling of tension
2 - do it only using one sample in Granulator III

The low bass track needed a lot more rumble but I couldn't make it any deeper while remaining audible, which was a bummer.  But it was pretty cool to take a percussion sample and turn it into this.  I'm not sure if the track has any tension but it was a fun experiment.

Halloween proper starts in 2 days...better go sample hunting this week.

Made in Ableton

TIME FOR SPOOKY SEASON

This was a great challenge. I can hear what you mean about wanting more rumble in the track, but great google moogly, getting all that texture out of one sample is a huge success. Definite tension achieved! Great work.

tension, for sure. but also a comfort.
really cool experiment / track

I'm telling you man, you've got such a natural ear for these oppressive and anxiety inducing sounds. Great stuff.

Inside an abandoned spaceship. Very immersive!

Oh this sure conveys the feeling of tension, alright! Dang... Quite haunting!!! Nice!!

The metallic tonal qualities does give a creepy abandoned warehouse feel, really great sample mangling to suss this out from a drum sample.

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate the feedback.
Please forgive the group reply, it's been a week and I'm falling asleep at my keyboard as I type.

I'd say the tension hit me pretty quick, like :19 in the door closed behind me yikes
Love how you use granulator such a cool idea.  I had to look around me a bit when it ended.  Like the mysterious cloud vanished and I'm left where I started.  Def looking forward to your sample forage smile
