'M E M O R I E S' - by Laineken

By Laineken on January 24, 2026 3:31 am

I'm happy to report that I am finally feeling more in tune with my OP-1 field.  I have owned this device on and off for the last few years, have made some fun things with it but as of recently I'm really starting to feel proud of the music that's coming from it. This specific piece began in my Octatrack, recording into it from the Op-1, but the vibe quickly became more of an OP-1 track in my mind so I switched up the cables and recorded everything back into the Op-1 timeline and then finished it there.  This recording is  froma live jam of the finished track, and the video can be found on my YouTube!  @Lnknmusic . Thanks for checking it out!

I also go by the name LNKN,  but I'm switching back to my old name Laineken because LNKN is impossible to pronounce haha.

Love the G!YBE vibe of the reverberated live band sound.
Goes through some really cool grooves after that, lots of super tasty earcandy.
Awesome work making the OP1F sound this huge!

Lovely open, light sounds against a nice dense bass. The OP-1 is a solid mystery to me, so I think you might be a wizard.

This is pretty fantastic.

Great track! lovely kalimba sound as well

Agreed on the OP-1 wizardry. This is excellent.

Oh man, this is so good, immediately grabbed my attention, the tape warble and stops is so tastefully done and those drums are funky neck snapping beats.  Sounds like you have developed a really good workflow, excited to hear more.

Wow, this is lovely. Never got on with the OP-1 workflow the few times I've used it. I liked the 4-track machine style but not the navigation. Always impressed with what other people can get out of them though. Sounds great.

Wow thanks everyone for the amazing feedback,  it really inspires me to use my OP-1 more. I appreciate all the kind words.

Haha thank you, the Op-1 is a mystery to me some days as well, other days it's just a source of inspiration and sometimes things just click and I end up making something I'm really proud of.  I have purchased and sold the OP – 1 field at least three separate times now. I always end up missing it no matter what else I have.

I just listened to everything you've uploaded this year in reverse order and I thought it was all great. Do you have anything on Spotify?

Wow thanks a lot, I really appreciate you saying that.  I think I still have stuff on Spotify, it's under the name LNkN, spelled just like that (There's another on there that isn't me that uses all caps) But honestly I'm letting it expire and disappear from there, I haven't uploaded anything new in quite a while.  But I should have at least three albums there, maybe four.  I just don't like the company and what they stand for, and I never made a penny from them so it wasn't a hard decision.

I have a bandcamp with a lot of albums (they're not all great, I used to upload everything haha, but I'm proud of the most recent few, and also proud of the oldest few) , I have Instagram, and YouTube as well.  I really like to turn my music into videos whenever I get a chance so on those two I have a lot of videos that I made to the music. I honestly upload most of my new stuff to just YouTube and Instagram, although I am working on a new album that will go on Bandcamp eventually but this weekly beats thing is taking up a lot of my time lol I haven't really had much time to work on it since I started this. I was hoping to release a second SP404 album on 404 day this year but I don't think I'm going to be done with it in time. My first one though is one of the albums that I like the most.

For the last four or so years I took out all the vowels from the name Laineken and just called myself LNKN, it's signified some changes in my life but now I'm trying to go back because no one can pronounce that and it's always just been laineken in my head anyway haha. But for that reason my name is just different everywhere and it's kind of annoying, I just made this decision like six weeks ago when I first started using this website.

Anyway, thanks a lot for listening to my music dude.  It means a lot to me, I'm going to check out your stuff too.  🤙👈
