Warm night oddities

By laguna on August 12, 2018 11:49 pm

I finally got an Elektron Machinedrum, and this comes from my first own pattern on it. Recorded in Ableton and chopped to add variation and interest. Sadly now I'm in a hotel room without the drumbox, so I had to finish the track adding other elements.

The voice clip came from Techmoan, one of my favourite Youtubers.

I don't know how I ended in some kind of "future bass" territory. Wish I had more time to polish the transition and add this to my future glitch hop masterpiece album wink

Not really finished, but I think it has some powerful ideas smile

Now I wish you a great week, and go to sleep

Effective use of the short delay(s) on the vocal. Smooth transition/morph!

Thanks Jim! Actually the vocal sample is heavily timestretched with the most stuttering and artificial sounding algorith, and then sent to a longer delay for ambience. I was going for a "90s jungle Akai timestretch" effect, though Ableton gives more algorithms than the classic "cyclic stretch" smile

Nice laid back beat but then it takes a nice surprising turn with those arps and drum breakdown.  The machinedrum looks pretty sweet too, enjoy that new toy! smile

yeah wow, that old school timestretch effect takes me back! so good!!

Very nice, this fits really well with a warm night city atmosphere I think. The switchup towards the end is great, really fun listen heart

Still discovering my new toy! And besides, with all the (work related) travelling I did this summer, it has been relatively untouched. I should do something about it wink

Thanks a lot, Eric

Always ready to take you back to the nineties wink

There's a free utility, called Akaizer, that emulates that "cyclic timestretch" algorithm. Runs on all systems. You should give it a try.

Thanks a lot, Matteo

Thanks a lot, Hieme. Glad you liked the switch at the end. I'm myself not really convinced it's correctly made, but I run out of ideas

Now some warm weather advice...
