Swirl Sixteen

This week I rescued an old beat from 2004 that never got a proper MC and gave it some form. Nothing too fancy.

Ableton Live 9, Meeblip and Korg Poly81M. 4 channels, lots of automation.

Looking forward to hear your stuff, that gets more interesting every week

Your beats are like fine wines - they get better with age!

What else do you have hidden away in your cellar? big_smile

You got the bitcrush just perfect on that beat. Is it just the 12-bit MPC crunch I'm hearing, or something else?

Nice groove and slow progressions!

Thank you, man. Really honoured you like my beats smile

Well, I think this beat was originally made with Reason 3, so it had no exact "bit reduction", but: I think I used a combination of Reason' Scream "lo fi" distortion (which I really think it had some crushing on it ) on the low end and some "tube screamer/guitar like" distortion on the mids with added resonance. That and choosing some snares with that certain hollow sound.

Please try that trick, killing some frequencies round 600 with a narrow filter, and then giving some notch enhancement on 500 and 725, for example. You get that "low resolution" feeling of messed/sampled EQ, but without losing definition.

Your beat for this week is tight as usual. Claps were killer, by the way

Thanks for listening and criticize smile

This is absolutely lovely. +Fav so that I don't miss your future stuff. I hope to get through your back catalogue this week. smile

I'll have to try that EQ setting -- your results here are stunning.

Super nice and chilled. Headphone music for the beautiful weather that we've just fallen into!

Wow, very nice sound. Your sound engineering knowledge never fails to impress.

It's sunny but windy and cold here in this corner of Spain... Hope it gets better. Thanks for listening!

A sweet groove here!. I'll try this trick, the drums on this track sound fabulous!

Great beats and sounds. You should try to rap, it's fun!

I like this groove! Carefully crafted, sounds both raw and refined: very cool, indeed.

I do have some raps in spanish, but nothing specially made for Weeklybeats. It takes me forever to finish rap lyrics smile

nothing to add here. a nice, chill, summer beat with fine-baked drumsounds. I think spanish rap would spice it up even more! maybe ask another (spanish) rapper to collaborate?

Superb track, glad you rescued this, I like that synth that comes in midway, the panning sounds work great on headphones

love the sound of the drums and the main synth bouncing around the speakers.  With the nice subtle bass in there, this has a great sound to it.  Also, really cool how that synth just spaces out towards the end with the extra hollowed beat.  Nice job! smile

Sweet! Nice beats and I love the echoed sloooow filter sweep at the end.

very nice chilled beats. The nice filtered delay on the stabs adds a lot! Glad you restored this fine tune!
