Secret samurai

I had an epic idea in my head using the (maybe overhyped?) Tape 16 DAW for sound on sound purposes, but one of my Windows machines, reserved for the task, had a failure and I spent half the weekend fighting about a (now dead) unresponsive SSD drive.

So Linux and Mac it is, then.

This was made is less than 3 hours. Ultra boring beat made as a demo of my new Renoise 3.1.1 kit of the Boss DR220 drum machine. It used an instance of TAL Noise Maker for a very Moroder-esque mono synth, though I never found a way to integrate the line as lead, so I relegate it to just carrier of the vocoder while the whole beat act as a modulator. Sort of an instant singing synth.

The "choir voice" was taken from some of those early nineties sample CD.

Not much variation. I run out of time and finished my upload just 19 seconds before the deadline.

I'm off duty until Friday. Hope to catch up with your songs.

Lots of love, WB family !!!

Secret Samurai in your SSD, chopping all your NAND. That sucks and sorry it happened!

The drums are lowkey super groovy. I cam picture some satanic samurai breakdancing in the shadows of a flame.

Gated choir voice is a real throwback and I love it. Drums + synth into Vocoder for rhythm is a great quick time hack too!

Sucks to hear about the SSD, pretty awesome you were able to come up with something with such a chill groove right before the deadline :0  That choir voice sample sounds cool too.  Gave me some Massive Attack vibes.

Enjoy the time off and rest.  Great crunchy drums and love how the synth moves along with the drums, nice technique described to get that effect.
