Return to the Rumble Vault

It's great to be back once again, Weekly Family !!! Hello everybody all around the world !!!

This one started as a OpenMPT tracker sketch using just 32 bit Windows plugins, as a way to discover "all the sounds I already have" instead of lusting for gear. Midweek I had just the drum samples but no song, and I didn't piece it all up together until Saturday.

I basically chopped my 4 bars of ultraboring melodic sketches and started messing with some synced LFO as a cheap way to generate "fake notes" in Ableton. Tried to stay focused so I don't turn mix into a mush as I usually do.

All the glitchy samples were nice but it lacked a lot of bass, so everything is backed up with a mixture of Roland TR-606 and Casio hihat samples. The rest is just 4 chords chopped and resampled, and lots of automation on the frequency and shape of the LFO.

This one has a video coming, where I sort of vlogged about the creation. It is like 60% ready, but I still have a lot of skills to improve if I want to publish a song AND a video every week.

Anyway, enough of the boring details. I should be listening to your songs now...

The very intro to this track with its super nice sound put a smile on my face. Cool to have you back. Super nice beat, very groovy, got my head bopping. Love the arps, the glitch, the textures. The transition at 1:28 is really tasty. Cool track!

I hope everything is fine on your side!

Love these sounds, especially the sort of solo at 01:50! It's got a rolling headbopping vibe to it. Happy new year!

Yoo, it's so nice to see you back again for another year! Enjoying your percussion as usual, it sounds so clean and intricate. Good luck this round heart

Cool tempo drift in the intro bass.  Great beats! Welcome back.

nice electro!
I like the clean & cold atmosphere.

This is great. Welcome back! Loving the Amiga 500 prologue vibes half way through

Hello again laguna! I really dig this. It sounds expertly crafted. I look forward to more!

Glad to hear and see you back for another round, fantastic start, superb beat with just the right touch of glitch.

good sh*t

Whoah!!! Thank you for such nice comments! It's really great to all of you back again for another year!!!

Sorry for the late answer. I started my week with the somehow expected bad reaction to the last COVID vaccine and it took me a couple of days to be back on my feet. Then it's been fun but also very busy. Lots of stuff to do IRL !!!

Happy New Year to you, mate! It's great to see you back!. I loved the "Music Portfolio" video you posted on your YT channel. Quite stunning work, sincerely. You are in another league!!!

Thank you! It's also nice to see you back. You got me fooled for a second with the name change, but your exquisite epic d'n'b is unique!!!

About the drums, I usually make my own breaks with groups of 2 to 4 or 5 "notes" and then reuse them and trigger as single sounds, so the final programming is simple though the result sounds a little more elaborated. It's specially useful on the hihats wink

Good luck to you too, and have a nice 2022!!!

Ah, Danke schön, mein Freund. It's great to see you back again!!! The bass was some sort of happy accident in OpenMPT, due to the Macintosh keyboard not having an "insert" key, at least on laptops. Long story short, it created some kind of nice swing and I kept it smile

Wishing you the best for this 2022...

Thanks! Glad you found it "electro" enough smile It is a really strong influence for me and I was going for that vibe although my tracks tend to be a little muddier and darker (not in theme but more on lack of high frequencies)

I'd like to aim for crystal clear mixes this year...

It's great to see you back again, Tweaklab! A really nice compliment, the "Amiga 500" vibe... It wasn't chiptune based this time but for me the Amiga scene is still a continuous inspiration smile

Best wishes for this 2022, mate smile

Det är fantastiskt att se dig också, ScanianVarg !!! I missed your fantastic chiptune sound smile

Let's make a crispy and crunchy 2022 smile

Oh, it's a pleasure to see you again, OneZero!!! Another classic is in the room!!!

Indeed, squelchy is the vibe. I'm really surprised I got the sound right. It seems that after all these years, I should not ignore those amplification and overdrive plugins anymore wink

Oh, man! It is great! You're back too!!! None of the classics missed the call!!!

I'm really looking forward to your superb sound and your crystal clear mixes. You make it look so easy... yet I'm still tweaking to no avail smile

Thanks a lot, man!!! I'm an addict to Ableton and it's warping/detuning capabilities. Usually start with a pretty monotone loop and try to insert variations every 4/8/16 bars, to keep things interesting.

BTW, Your beat skills are really powerfull, Sir smile

Thanks a lot, man! You are a true inspiration and one of the Major League players for me. Really glad you checked this one. It's fantastic to have you back, Sodabelly smile

Oh, Thank you, Cfurrow! It's great to see another of the Classics here! Glad you made it smile

Just putting some of the old thicks to work and maybe the years start to control my nasty desire to drawn everything in unhealthy amounths of delay...

Whoah... the Man with the Perfect GIF... It is a real pleasure to hear you again, Ipa! I never doubt you'll come for another one smile

It's great to have you back, Jason!!! The iOS music-making wizard!! smile (Maybe you could show me the ways of the AUM mixer this year...)

Glad you like it and thanks for the compliment. I really want to improve my "balancing" skills when it comes to glitch, noise and proper restrain (from FX abuse)

I've stuck with Reason wchich now can work directly with audio and kind of do such things, but I guess Ableton is much more powerful in that regard.

I've often used the same apporach. I find that It's also often effective to make the variations/fills slightly longer so they bleed into the beginning of the next bar (5/9/17..)

Thank you, Sir! smile

Hey man, exquisite track indeed. Fresh as a lemonjuice. Nice to see you are back.

Vielen dank, Q-Rosh! Glad to see you back too! I love what you're doing reediting your 90's stuff...

"Citronsaft" is a good compliment and a nice name for a track wink

THE CAT IS BACK!  I just have always envisioned you as that avatar, not a human.

hot beats buddy

Just found you from the comments and glad i did! Really nice textures all around, especially with the percussion.

Hahaha You made my day with that comment, Drew! Well, although I know you've seen me in Youtube, it's quite a warm thought to be percieved as Copo de Nieve (Snow Flake), one of my beloved cats. I'm sure he'll aprove, though he'd ask for some contract signing first. He wouldn't lend his looks to anyone for free, because he acts like a real celebrity.

I've been trying to catch him posing over a drum machine for years, but to no avail. I'm sure he'll make one hell of a profile picture!

Thanks for listening, as always. BTW your videos this year are f***ing awesome, man :-)

Hi, Danju. I could say the same thing. It's kinda strange when you discover someone who's been a whole WB edition. I discovered your content this year and realise I never heard any of your 2020 tracks, yet we're both into slow hip hop based jams (or so it seems). Now I should be checking your stream, instead of writing this.

Thanks for listening, again. Hope you dig these beats

Sweet beat and really cool harmonics on that main synth.
