Uploaded literally in the last 3 minutes!!! Created with OpenMPT, then mixed and mastered with Ableton Live 9 just 35 minutes before the deadline!!!

I know the piece is almost incomplete. No proper bassline and mixed in a hurry. Tried to make it sound the best way possible from the original module, so I don't have to mess up with too much mastering later... Still there's a lot of elements missed so I think it deserves a future rework.

I've gladly been revisiting my dear old OpenMPT and getting everything ready to run it under emulation on OSX (with Crossover) and Linux (using Wine). Created a skeletal track using only free plugins and basic samples (the whole file is just 442 Kbytes in size)... I think I'm doing a round trip going from Amiga trackers to DAWs and returning back to the tracking philosophy, while using everything I've learnt in the way.

Anyone using old tools along with new ones? (I know there are true tracking masters here) smile

Cool GIF as always, man! Thanks for droppin' by, Roger. Gotta go to sleep now but I'm not forgettin' about the track I missed from your last week.

Are you hittin' NitroTracker from time to time, by the way? wink

Nope, I haven't touched my 3DS in a while =[

Awesome track with a great groove, would love to hear it with some more elements added in the future! Regardless of that though, I definitely found myself getting lost in this one, great job! big_smile

Thanks Martiln! I should finally update my soundcloud account and I'm sure I'll post a proper version there. Glad you liked the groove. It was all an exersize in building something with a certain swing on the tracker

Loving the vibe of this one.  Very noddy :-)

very nice, again in the Mo'wax spirit of things smile
I love listening to your tracks. They're very atmospheric and I always see so many images ...

Love the swirling textures in the background, would be nice to hear it completed, can't have the boom bap without some bass

+1 on the Mo'wax tip.  Loving that grit of the drums.  Well played, my friend!

THAT LAST MINUTE PANIC IS SO REAL.

Great groove to this.
I actually think that the minimalism of just having the beats against the ambient backdrop sounds really good in this track.

Love your track. Feels really good.

Thanks cTrix! It had some intented head bangin' feel to it, so I'm glad you like it smile

Whoah... If you read my Soundcloud profile you'll see that "creating images in your head is my goal" smile Really glad you liked it, mate. The Mo'Wax stuff it's been going back in my production lately. Hope it doesn't sound too pastiche from me smile

Sure! Though sometimes I prefer to have an incomplete track than trowing out a wack bassline just "to cover things a little". Glad you liked it and thanks very much for listening every week smile

INDEED, MAN! About the grit thing... It's been my quest lately to find "the perfect crunchiness", almost bordering the obsession. I've tried hardware samplers and software, and the more I try, the more i think that "crunchyness is a state of mind" and it's not really associated with your gear.

Some guys could make a Korg microsampler or an Octatrack sound crunchy, dusty and somewhat "90s" smile

Thank you ,man! I usually add the bassline at the very end. It's not really a "funky" way of doing things but in the end I discovered hip hop beats after J.M.Jarre or Tangerine Dream, so I've always have that kind of "ambient ethereal atmospheres with lead heavy beats banging" philosophy... Would love to do it more "soulful", but I guess this kind of "synth hop" is really my thing

Thank you very much, Q Rosh. I've been really diggin your stuff lately, though I have some serious catchng up to do with a lot of people's tunes

You know what?  The original Dr. Sample had some awesome grit including a stellar "lo-fi" mode!  (not to feed your obsession!!!)

I Love the atmosphere, very nice drums!

I always enjoy your grooves/beats and how you find a way to make the most out of what you use for that particular week.  I need to get a bit better myself with the limiting my options thing.  Really cool mellow track even without a bassline.  I think it just gives the drum groove center stage a bit more smile
