Wrong warp

Had not made a track since February last year. Thanks WeeklyBeats for shaking me and making me start again! I was very very rusty…

For this one I just got my Gameboy and Yamaha PSS-580 out on the desk and started sending notes from my DAW… To be honest I hate composing in the DAW, I get frustrated pretty easily by the amount of friction and fiddling.
I want to find a better workflow for the upcoming weeks.

I initially wanted to try to do some kind of old school drum & bass and started from a drum loop, but it kinda veered off from that… oh well, maybe next time!

Also, I don’t know how to handle the loudness in a mix, something to learn soon. There is also a lot of clicks and pops coming from the Gameboy, unsure how to fix those.

This sounds great! Love the chiptune/breakbeat mix. And a PSS-580? Fantastic. Need to use my PSS-270 this year.

Looking forward to more….let’s go WB 26!

The clicks and pops are part of the game oy sound smile Great work, love the combination of breakbeat and chip and nice chords!

Cool setup, good times heart

Ahhhhh 25 seconds when the space gets filled and then again at 35 when the main lead comes in!!! So inspired. I really want to get a gameboy to do music with at some point because this is just too nostalgic. Such a great little composition smile Excited to hear more.

nice

very cool 8-bit soundworld. I also like the fast drum beat; great how it isn´t 4/4 all the time. That harpsicord-like lead melody is very nice too. Eneregtic stuff... i feel recharged smile

It's kind of silly to send MIDI from your DAW to your keyboard, and then say you dislike using a DAW. Surely you can use the keyboard to compose into the DAW?

Cool tune though.

Welcome back. You'll improve over time. You aced the sound palate test which is the most fundamental part. The sounds you chose are great. Which DAW are you using?
