Tax & Fees

By kineticturtle on January 10, 2020 4:52 pm

Monday: scribbled some lyrics at work that I didn't wind up using, wrote guitar riff late at night at home
Tuesday: recorded a drumbeat using drum machine and modular to 4-track cassette machine, then tracked guitar
Wednesday: wrote new lyrics and recorded vocals, as well as synth
Thursday: mix
Friday: upload, then create video (tbd)

I like the sound of it all recorded to tape.  Acts as a great form of audio glue (compression) to piece it all together.

This is such a cool/unique sound.  I love what you did with the vocal part at the end.

I like that tape sound! I've only ever used the digital imitations

Four things are certain in life; Death, Taxes, Fees and kineticturtle rocking the weeklybeats.

I really dig the tone and style of your voice. Who are some of your influences?

The chord progression is cool, I like the darker chord that adds melodic variance for your vocal lines. And of course, as everyone else has already mentioned, the aesthetic of the mix sounds really nice. With everything else sounding distant/quiet it gives your voice more presence and intimacy by comparison.

some Thom Yorke vibes going on here...

Thanks for the kind words y'all! I added a video.

Nice track. Really like the synth track in the middle of the song. Cool vibe, reminiscent to me to brit pop rock.

This is pretty cash money.
