Shimobashira

By Kedbreak136 on February 25, 2024 1:04 pm

This track is like the shadow of a good idea. I think there is something, but I have not been able to capture it properly. I might revisit it one day.

Yo Ked, Great W08. Hope you had a cool week.

Sounds solid to me! I think you executed on some great ideas here already, but even if you wind up revisiting it, you're off to a great start. big_smile

oooh i like that sparsy arp progression the second it gets introduced yikes  pardon me while i air drum along! Suhweet delay cut out as well.  It has a sort of prelude feel to it.  Like it's going to lead into another epic track that uses the same theme.  You are da shadow master!

Some people prefers the shadows, sometimes it is too bright and hot directly when hit by the sun.

Ca marche bien, des synths bien gras, cools arpèges, une bonne intro, un bon beat engageant avec des "double kicks", une bonne outrow...

Tu as pack pas mal de stock dans 2m27.

Bien joué.

Great dynamics in the two sections! The eerie sublimating intro! The massive energy in the second part! Would be nice to hear a longer full version. It's missing a melody or hook or something like that. But could be a good utilitarian track for a game or video.

Quite wonderful! I too often get the feeling of dwelling in an obscure creative zone, where the good stuff is around the corner. The falling arpeggios remind me of Purple Motion, a 90's tracker legend. Keep it up!

There's a lot of good stuff here.  Love the crazy energy attack around 1:05.  I'd say there's more than a shadow here and at least a silhouette.  smile

Cool. Those straight-4 melody lines would be really hard to work with for me, even with the counter-rhythms you have going on in those sections. The over-all arrangement flow is great.

I have never heard of shimobashira before. So that's a good find!

Wow, the track sure is a journey! You think you know what it is and where it goes, and then 1:04 happens yikes Slasher horror vibes.

nice chord progression!

A shadow of baroque music in the 21 century? A great dynamic arrangement. Very good job week8.

love how this ebbs and flows and grows

A very kedbreak adventure through the cyber forest! Pretty intro, I love how it then just takes off hard ... and pretty outro. Cool, and I'm sure if you do revisit it be amazing.

Agreed 100% and also ditto on thanks for the plant rec!

A stand out part to me is that melody at 39 seconds in. I love the sound of the trailing delay as the acid bass comes in and then the whole section going synthwave.

The start of an epic synth opera.  Very baroque and dramatic.  Love the speedy metal bits!

Yes there might be some material for a future track. Thank you for listening.

Merci beaucoup! Faudrait quand meme que je passe un peu plus de temps sur mes tracks pour pouvoir les peaufiner un peu plus.

Yes indeed, I think it's missing a mainline. This is like the background music to something else. Maybe it will appear out of the shadows in its own time, at which point it would be time to revisit the track.

Thank you! The arpeggios were actually weirdly inspired from old shoot-em up arcade games. The working name for the track was "r-type". Well the track obviously changed quite a lot in the meantime.

Yes shimobashira are a cute thing. I don't think we have a word for that in French, but once i learnt the word in Japanese, it's as if they became a thing and i'd notice them all around in the winter. Cute little things.

Thank you very much! The shadows are nice to nurture something, but they need to get into some light at some point. smile Need that vitamin D, you see.

Thank you! An epic synth opera? That sounds like a good idea to expand this track!

hooked me in the first 10 seconds, so many cool sounds.

love the drop right around a minute in, great double-kick style beat and synth guitar vibe. more crazy ear candy sounds for me at 01:43. and then the euphoric choir pads and arpeggio to close it out.

nice work!

Perhaps the best version of this song is hiding in the shadows, but what's revealed here is great already.

this is what i want the kedbreak live band to be - this cinematic synthwave with a touch of metal drumming, and then you on live guitar+feedback noise
