This week is my 2 year anniversary of weekly recordings!

This song started from the main beat and riff, that I had made a few weeks back under the work title of "cyberfunk". Just because I thought it was stupid and gimmicky. Ipaghost had introduced 15.ai recently for voices and as I loaded the website, the default voice that popped out was the voice of the Robot from the videogame portal. She is a cynical AI with a lot of distaste for humans. That made the track pivot and go towards the concept of AI reaching the Singularity, becoming aware, and deciding to punish humans. Not just in any random way - by making them dance, dance, until they drop.

Two lines she says in the track are actually extracts from Frankenstein, the novel. The monster in the novel is actually a genius but, rejected by his creator for his appearance, he is consumed by the passion for revenge. Cool book by the way, I recommend it. I am sure it will feel very appropriate once we have reached the Singularity.

Since I had this image of the robots whipping humans into dancing, I added bullwhips dances and pain sounds, but now it kinda sounds like an indus electro track that could be played at a dark club where people are into wearing leather and getting whipped. We went from cyberfunk to cyber SM. But hey, if that's where the track wants to go.

The second voice by the way is the voice of Dariah, from the cartoon of the same name of the late 90s. It felts appropriate.

I want to thank Orange Drink for the title - "Resentful, but Sexy" is just so random yet so very appropriate for this track. I loved it and wanted to find an opportunity to use it. And also to thank Azuria Sky for the Weekly Beating pun, it's so silly it made me laugh out loud in the weekly meet the other day.

And thank you "15.ai" for the awesome voice generator!

Now dance, humans, dance.

Congratulations on the 2 year anniversary. I think it's amazing how far you've come since starting, and it's a real inspiration. It feels very Kedbreak to celebrate two years of human achievement with a dance tune celebrating the AI takeover. Love the track, too; the main riff has Kedbreak written all over it, in a good way, of course!

Lots of energy to this.  I bet it could absolutely make someone dance until they drop.  Congrats on 2 straight years of weekly recordings.  I always seem to need to take some time off in between WB years.  As an aside, I was assigned Frankenstein to read in school 3 different times.  The first couple of times I think I was too young to appreciate it, and the third time I was just sick of it after being required to read it so many times.  But now it's probably been close to 25 years since the last time I read it, so maybe it's time for a reappraisal?

wow, groovy. I feel intimidated into dancing!

This is just wild -- so cinematic. I love the random telephone ringing. Definitely gonna check out 15.ai as well big_smile

It is gonna be fun to hear to your track with added robots singing on it... smile Encore une fois, super fun track.

the sound is monumental in here. very powerful and groovy indeed. awesome.

Cool track! I like that there's a bit of a story in it. And I like the story of how you came up with it big_smile we are heading towards that future that's for sure, we just gotta get ready to dance!

And congrats on the 2 years! Let there be many more!

Super charged, funky groovy and eventful! I don't miss anything in this track, great job!

Cyber SM eh, it could do without the moans and groans, but these effects certainly put an interesting twist to it

I'm dancing!!! I'm dancing damnnit!!!

This is fantastic. The human noises take it to the next level. Congrats on 2y!

This title and description, yes! Whipping me into a dancing frenzy no doubt. Yes please, I'll take my weekly beatings right here. May I have another. I'm a lowly human who must be punished ... and dance!

My goodness. The textures are amazing

Nice!  Energy in the second half is great on this, great use of sound effect samples, you always have a great way of mixing them in without them sounding too obvious or overused

I am personally ok with an AI dystopia if it's gonna be as groovy as this!

Don't mind if I do. I always wanted to go out in style ~~

Crazy Mech Funk! Great jam. Love the dispassionate funk talk and those whip cracks.  The bass synth and snare sounds are badass!

LOL

this is so hilarious and good.  definitely Mirror's Edge meets Portal??  could definitely see the part where you have to parkour run away from the evil AI

great job, honored to be a part of it!

Haha thank you! Thank you for introducing Weekly beats 2 years ago. It has been a great opportunity to stop finding excuses for not finishing tracks, learning a lot of skills, and exploring random ideas! No plan to stop at any point!

Actually the last time I read it was also 25 years ago, but I was lucky to have a great teacher who was able to take us through the deep meanings of the book, exploring humanity and inhumanity. It's in the public domain now anyway, so no excuse to not try to have another go at it!

Thank you! I'll definitely keep going as long as I have random ideas. The story is for me the most exciting part of making tracks, it's like being transported in this fun weird alternative universe for 3 minutes.

I did not intend it to be cyber SM originally, but it kinda sounds like that, doesn't it.

We need more robots to ensure humanity dances all the way.

Thank you! It's all about the textures (i found an amaaaazing "bullwhip" sample package... I must be the only one who has ever bought it).

Thank you! I live for trying to use samples as randomly as possible.

It's good to be positive. This will please our AI overlords. smile

I owe you all my inspiration for this one. I owe also some to Judgement Act for the "Wah ha ha". smile

I listened to this on the first day, then again and BOTH TIMES I've been sidetracked by the 15.ai thing and trying to figure out if I can get the narrator from The Stanley Parable beatbox... What I've been trying to say for almost a week is that this track is goddamn awesome (and that I really like the bass on it).

Awesome story and love the sound of that main synth bass. Such wobbly goodness! Nice work!
