Not R-Type

By Kedbreak136 on November 24, 2024 12:58 pm

It was Sunday and I was out without any track. Fortunately, my youngest was playing the Snes emulator on his switch and there was R-Type! I played it a little and of course could not make it past the first three waves of enemies. Things don't seem to be improving for me. But at least, it gave me an idea of a track. Chiptune Shoot-em-up, though the result might be missing the frenetic vibe required for this kind of tracks. There is a baroque synth lead, so I guess it makes up for it?

Awesome arcade vibes in this one! I struggle with side scrolling shmups too. Guess they’re not R-Type of game. tongue

I am sorry, I have no knowledge about games. But I like the layers of arpeggios in here. well done Johann Sebastian.

This is so awesome! I can EASILY see this as a tune in R Type!!! Great melodies and bass lines. Super nice work.

Well played. I really like the 'noisy' drums, fun synths.

wow baroque?! ahhh def a shmup vibe with that noise based snare. and with the steady bass and all other lines.
very cool arrangement on the high arps. your vast experience in making these tracks shows! Ahh in the last half I can see the national anthem type synth big_smile maybe that's the baroque thing you mentioned?

This totally works for a chiptune shoot-em-up. :-)

Maybe not quite frenetic, but still quite energetic and the arps sound awesome.

good news is, with this track we have all won!
NICE JORB!!

DEEP nostalgia from this one.  Oh man, like just listening the this is making my d-pad thumb start acting up.

Great soundtrack, I'm ready for this action. It's playing out in my mind and it's exciting. Arp fantastical, bass slapping, leads soaring. Let's go.

oh i can def see crashing into many bullets, missles and alien objects with this fantastic energetic track.  Had me from that immediate synth pad letting me know i was in for a ride!  Loved it!

I do remember that game, I was never very good at those type of games, too intense, blink and you lose.  Great inspiration for a track, the frenetic energy of waves of enemies and bullets flying definitely comes through.

Oh yeah, when I first read the title I thought the track was going to be about a Honda civic.

love when that lead comes in at 1:44, soooo goooood! great energy and pairs perfectly with a video game.

Thank you! I struggle with side scrolling, vertical scrolling, and any game that requires fast reflexes and precise motions. People who can finish these games are witches in my eyes!

Thank you very much for your kind comment! This is indeed a deep cut of 80s game, one of these that were way too difficult for normal human beings (hence my inability to get beyond the first seconds).

Thank you! The music in classic shootem up games was pretty epic!

Merci! Chiptune drums et arpeges, tu mets dans un mixer, mixe un grand coup et laisse reposer une minute avant de consommer.

Haha i am not sure which one is the national anthem synth. The slow one maybe? I meant the faster one to be baroque like, but then i'm no classic music ontology expert. Thank you for your comment!

I am glad I did  nice jorb! I can never win this game, can only watch people who go to the end without cheating and wonder what nobel prize they could have won, had they focused that energy into medicine or science.

Tunnel syndrome activated! The world needs more shootem ups!

The Honda civic joke made me laugh. I wonder if Honda actually got the name from the shootem up. Very possible actually.
