Mourning

I bought Yamaha's Vocaloid a couple of weeks ago and meant to try it out. The plan was never to do hatsune miku vocaloid music but rather to use an artificial voice that supports articulations, emotions, and can be set without having to go into pitcheditor hell (ipaghost, you're a hero for doing your vocals like this). I was especially looking for a Torch singer type of voice, for a film noir type of voice. There is also a good documentary on amazon prime about the music for James Bond movies, I think this came into the mix as well.

So here we go with a short experiment in trying to make a noir track. The lyrics are a bit simple and cringy and I wish I could spend more time to develop the track, but maybe the short length works there. It was still quite some work to get the voice to kinda work, but I feel there is a lot of potential with this tool. I need to spend more time with it, to try to make it sound more human.

This is cool idea for a track, and it sounds orders of magnitude more interesting than anything I've heard a vocaloid used for before.  I'm a little surprised I've gone this far though life without realizing vocaloid is a Yahama product.

Nice! Now we've got both another beautiful Kedbreak136 WeeklyBeat and a proof of concept for a Hatsune Miku Bond theme. big_smile Guess I'll have to check out that documentary while I'm waiting for the inevitable (and totally awesome) future to arrive.

I dig the vibe. That smash right in the middle of the track is powerful. It made me go "ooh!" Cool track.

Wow, that voice sounds great! You totally nailed the film noir here.

Despite, or perhaps because of the Vocaloid feel, this song is so, so good
So smooth on the ears

Totally has that bond song type of vibe and I'm impressed with what you've managed to make the artificial voice do.  The future is a strange and interesting place for sure.

Works very well, I'm in that scene with you. Piano lovely. Great vibes. Great work on the voice, I'll have to look that up. Was curious about that doc, going to check that out.

the female voice is fantastic and reminded me immediately of a Bond movie. the strings and piano, the drums and the whole atmosphere is brilliant soft and glittery like a diamond. love 1:15 and 1:55!!!!!

a superbly-crafted noir heart

The noir theme sounds great and it really feels like an old nostalgic tune getting a modern day remaster.  Smoke filled nightclub vibes smile

Wow you should absolutely put more time into playing with this voice. Also, considering this is a departure from your usual style, it sounds wonderful.

I cry a little whenever I have a fun, relaxing day because I remember

"The entire time I watched a movie, went for a walk, ate pizza, took a nap, went to the grocery store: Ipaghost was at home editing vocal pitch bends."

oh cool, I want to see that bond music doc.  I really like the bond movies and the music is so iconic.

I think i'm going to start a shrine to the film scoring gods to get you placed in a film.  you are too good at sonic storytelling!

YES

Great work on capturing the film noir vibe and even more so with the vocal synth.  I haven't played with it myself but sounded pretty damn good!
