Gandahar contre les homme-machines

By Kedbreak136 on April 19, 2026 3:15 am

I happily stumbled upon this track and it built itself pretty quickly. The mix of hard electronic sounds and some more organic reminded me of the cartoon Gandahar, hence the title.

If you have not had the chance to see it, it's one of these weird French cartoons of the 80s, similar to Les Maitres du Temps or The Fantastic Planet (Metal Hurlant/Heavy Metal cartoon style). Here is the trailer:

I'm not familiar with Gandahar, but from the trailer it looks like something that would have been right up my alley in the 80's.  Heck, I think it looks pretty cool now.  The music sounds suitably epic and would accompany something like this quite well, I think.

Ooooh the sfx are right in line with the far out trailer! \m/  Awesome drum groove that spills out into a sweet daftpunktron arp only to hit full epic when the strings come in.  Love the sound of the other lead that comes in midway.  It cuts through the drums so nice.  Excellent chord progression for the final section too. Well done!

💯💯💯

friggin' epic, Kedbreak!

Was not familiar with the cartoon, watched the trailer first before listening.  Definitely can hear the influence of that cartoon in your track this week.  The energy and build-up on this one is great, lots of nice transitions and as always can see a story unfolding in your music.

From my memory, it was a pretty epic movie, with time travel, psychology, and a reflection about society. But I have not seen in 30 years so I am not sure how reliable this information is. This would be the perfect movie to get at a DVD rental place in the early days.

Thank you very much! It seems I am now in my electro synthwave movie phase. smile

Thank you! I recommend checking it out. All these 70s/80s scifi cartoons are really epic!

Yea, this is excellent. Love the punch of the beat n bass!

I can almost see the march of the robots coming to crush the city ahead. Crunchy synth arps, epic gated beats with lots of auxiliary tonal madness.  Nice one.  \m/
