Full Throttle

By Kedbreak136 on April 17, 2022 6:33 am

This one was inspired by the sound of a car as I was waiting at a traffic light. A car passed and the only thing I could hear was this double kick in 6/8 - this became the seed for a simple stoner rock track with some synths to spice it up.

This kinda feels like a motorbiking cruising track to me, so the bike samples seemed appropriate.

This is great! Love the heavy guitars and synths together. Cool how the inspiration for this song came to you. I really like this combination of rock/metal and electronic music. Super cool!

Queens of the Stone Age got nothin' on this.

Cool backstory, awesome energy, and the engine noises add a really nice touch.

You must drink gasoline for breakfast with metalbacon and nuclear eggs. I see no other explanation for the power that you blow out in this track. A single car cannot be the seed for this. Have a good day and come back savely.

Yeah I for sure hear the style of stoner rock you're invoking here with that beat. I also love that you integrated the origin inspiration for this song with the samples of the motorcycle driving by haha.

I absolutely love tracks inspired by stuff you hear in the wild.

That must have been some car, great energy with the drums, guitar and synth.  Once again great job at mixing in samples like the sirens and engine sounds.

Hell yeah dude, love all the cool stereo image stuff going on in this one.

FULL THROTTLE!!

SHOUT OUT TO DOUBLE FINE!

What DAW did you use to make this?  I'm assuming this is a DAW and not a live audio recording of motorcyclists driving through your band rehearsal studio.

Love the koto instrument.  You have inspired me to find a good virtual koto to make a song with!

Oh hell yea.

Love the way this kicks in at :37. Love the 6/8 drums and all the action packed sound effects. Cool choice to have some of the lead duties taken over by the synths. I like that!

Oooh hell yea this is a head nodder.  At times it goes from synth wave to metal to industrial.  The guitar sounds great and that koto adds a nice touch. \m/

To be totally honest, the reason i'm using synths there on top is that I struggle mixing a lot of guitar tracks, it always end up like woodstaock 94 - a mudfest. Synth having such a more simple frequencies profile, it's much easier to mix. Thank you for the comment!

Thank you! It's all about drinking industrial quantities of coffee! Thank you for the nice comment!

Yup, that's more Orange Goblin or Kyuss kind of vibe - more simple rock, slightly droneish, sluggish. smile

It's like a seed that goes into crazy trajectories!

Thank you very much! The car had a very powerful sono, at least for the frequencies covered by the kicks - I could not really hear anything else.

I do everything in FL studio. smile

You can find some good soundfonts for Koto and Shamisen linked in the page below:

Playing with a different instrument or even different sounds are great to opening new doors to the imagination.

I like how Asia plucked strings instruments like shamisen, guzheng, koto, have a percussive and clean sound that make them really stand out in a mix.

Heck, yes. I'm stoner rocking out. Juicy thick. Would go ride a motor bike if I had one. Used to ride a Vespa, didn't feel so badass, but loved the wind in my face.

My favorite is the breakdown around 1:37. But the tune proper booms smile

(One of my favorite games -- the most underrated of all of Tim Schafer's ludology)

Dig that slightly edited koto line and sloppy ass snare.  Power chords for lyf.
