A Long Way Home

By Kedbreak136 on June 21, 2026 2:40 am

I had a good day on Saturday with some surfing (though it was raining a little and we did not have much wave). I was thinking I might do a bossa nova track or something with Latin vibes.

But no, the track wanted to go subterranean, so subterranean we went.

There is a reference to the Odyssey, which I have always loved even as a kid. I am looking forward to Nolan's version.

I'm gonna need a torch for this dark passage yikes The woodwinds have me looking behind me.  The choral voices that lead into the next section made me feel like I'm walking through those gates in Neverending Story. Goosebumps from that part! Also looking forward to the Odyssey \m/

Definitely evokes a feeling of underground exploration.  The sound effects add a lot to the visual sense it gives as always.  I also first encountered the Odyssey as a kid and was fascinated by it.  It will be interesting to see what Nolan does with it.

Pretty eerie and suggestive atmosphere here. I felt like I was lost within a dark enchanted and dangerous forest... and definetely, NOT bossa nova smile

BTW what are you using to produce those flute/panpipe-esque sounds

I'm watching the ''Dark'' TV series from Germany currently , it's a pretty epic show. This track would feel right in there.

I love how it's somehow both spooky and comforting. Very cool stuff

excellent submerged sound design, very eerie!

Fantastic sound design, the sound envelopes you from all sides, close your eyes and you are right there with this explorer.

I am glad this evokes cinematic images! Ah the gates in the Neverending Story was quite unnerving when we were children! That movie had a sense of scale and wonder that has rarely been reproduced.

Yes, I am sure he'll do great. Maybe not exactly what some people wanted him to do, but I trust his vision and his taste.

This is not bossa nova indeed. The flute like sound is from one of the many libraries in Kontrol Komplete. I do not remember exactly which one, maybe in Pharlight or Straylight. I used to feel bad to just rely on presets but now I don't anymore. smile

Merci! Je trouve que des field samples sont vraiment bons pour grounder un track. Merci pour ton commentaire!
