GLOOPCORE

built (with permission) on Napear's week 30 track, '9th Floor.'
thank you, Friend.
*if you haven't already, i highly recommend listening to Napear's original track from Week 30 and reading about what went into making it. put on the good headphones and get properly creeped out.   ⊙.☉

i'm working through some stuff. thank you for listening.

ps: if you haven't checked out neon liminal's track for this week, please do. i sent him a little guitar message last week that he was kind enough to incorporate into this absolutely stunning song: the message (starry night cowboy)

Wow. This is so gripping. 10 minutes just flew by in a flash it feels like. Your vocals are just amazing. I thought I was hearing REM at times. And they way you worked it in with the ambient from Napear is so seamless. Really well done!

I really like how the track builds on top of Napear's work.  Between the music and the lyrics, there's a feeling of darkness and ominousness.  I can also read the line about picking up your feet and dancing in both a hopeful way and a kind of darkly ironic way, which is a cool touch.  I like the passion you deliver that line with, too.

I'm still amazed you were able to write something using 9th Floor like soooo seamlessly.  I mean it's not the most approachable backing track...  And this is such a dark and beautiful song that so perfectly expands on the feeling of the original.  Just wonderfully done sir.  So good.

... also... GLOOPCORE... ʱªʱªʱª(ᕑᗢूᓫ∗)

Dammnit all the crying and goosebumps and the tears. "pick up your feet and dance / take up your feet and dance" just absolutely killing me right now, as I type this, as it's happening, as this song is just ripping me apart.

This is stuff of legend, this is powerful, my friend.

Honestly it's been ages since I've had a song hit me so hard so fast. Gonna be listening to this on repeat all night, there's something here I gotta understand, seek out, feel over and over.

Crushed. Broken. Picking up the pieces and dropping them again.

In a good way heart I hope you are well, cowboy.

An awesome collab and indeed hitting hard. This song, placed properly at a pivotal moment in a TV series or a movie could catapult you to mainstream success. First-class artistry.

Man, and I was so happy about my tiny vocal effort this week 😅

This new 10 minute format fits very well to the epic masterpiece that was created. I had a listen to Napears track before and I had the sinking titanic in my mind when I first heard it. The emotional vocals and the hounding guitar resonance  in the same tragical way with me.  Holy crap, you made something very special this week.

Damn, a lot of emotion here. Not much to say except that I'll be spinning this one multiple times.

Mmm, this is hauntingly lovely. I’m having a blast getting to know your songwriting this year. You’re fantastic. wink

No way is this track over ten minutes.

Your vocals in this are...amazing. The ragged emotion is just striking. Layered with Napear's track and the guitar and the slow burn of the build....yeah, words fail on this one. Agree with Q-Rosh, this is an epic masterpiece. Cheers to both you and Napear for what you created here.

*updated my track notes above to include this:

Wow, this is so good. Hauntingly beautiful. You really captured something special here.

what a journey!

This has absolutely psychedelic quality to it….like a folksy song from other galaxies, just accidentally passing our way in the ether…great!

This sound you and Napear have formulated is fantastic, really enjoy that blend of the acoustic sounds and Napear’s ambient/electronic excursions.  Amazed this track is over 10 minutes, didn’t feel that long, so enjoyable and the emotion in your voice “pick up your feet and Dance!”  Brilliant!

Beautiful, chilling, and like PeterM said, gripping. Fantastically cathartic!

Oh man. What a spectacular piece. Amazing collaboration.

thank you very much, Peter. and wow - an REM comparison is high praise! i've been revisiting Automatic For The People recently, an all-timer for me.

this was definitely the one i was most unsure of going in. and i'm not actually sure that i stayed in C Locrian (i tapped out of music theory pretty quickly), but i think that added to the tension. and one of the most important things you taught me:
"if it sounds good, it is good"   (★‿★)
thank you for your kind words, and thank you again for being open to me incorporating your wonderful work.
GLOOPCORE FOREVER

i'm overwhelmed with all these nice comments. thank you!
i did think about shortening when i realized Napear's track was 10+ mins, but once i got going i knew the entire thing had to be included.

seriously y'all, THANK YOU

What a wonderful collaboration! I love the tone and phrasing of the acoustic guitar. The vocals are great too.

This is superb smile Vocals are absolutely killer, love the intensity/delivery and harmonies in the "pick up your feet and dance" section. Really felt this one, thanks for putting so much into it.

wow, powerful! Feeling it. Vocals are great. So haunting. I love hearing "pick up you feet and dance" on a song like this, chillz.

this is haunting and beautiful.  The guitar lines sound so good with your vocals.  The pick up your feet and dance section was my fav and got me in the feels.  Your vocals have a knack for doing that this year.  Hope everyone is ok heart

i'm really glad i left the vocals in there as they are. i was a little self-conscious about them as they are pretty raw/ exposed. when i was mixing i was thinking about the newest Sumac record (which is incredible). it's very heavy and doesn't sound anything like what i'm doing, but there are some moments when the singer's voice goes into a higher register and almost cracks. i imagined that that is something that most people would edit out or try to do "cleaner" and i'm so glad they didn't - it is one of my favorite parts of the record. so yeah, i had to remind myself about that.
thank you for your nice words, Friend

The "American Pie" of psychedelic-like slow rock tripping out into an ambient acoustic soundscape of forgotten possibilities. This track is pioneering into a new sub-genre. Really creative collab using Napear's "9th Floor" with your acoustic artistry and haunting vocals. Another stellar production.
