All my favourite flavours of distortion in one place, I could listen to this all day, it just hits those parts of my brain in all the right ways and makes me unavoidably happy. And this piece is such a mood. Sun rising over concrete and chain link, dust and gravel, salt on the wind and a yellow haze.
On a side note I'd love for you to romance Godspeed! You Black Emperor with stuff like this and be that infectious source of happiness for them that you are for everyone on Weekly Beats and in your life, you are wonderful
yessssss! Killer video edits as well. That nasty ass distorted guitar and bent, funky notes. This is like indie rock meditation music. There's something so calming about this loop that isn't quite predictable but just enough predictable. Angry yet comforting at the same time. There's a kind of anticipation in the air like I'm waiting for drums and vocals to come in. Nice work man!

Yes, 1000%! Could not agree more!
The laid back chill vibe here is so cool. Super fun to just sit back and enjoy all the heavy guitar distortion as you tell us this story with it.
Really cool. Really like this, got that Gpodspeed vibe neon liminal mentioned and I love it! Twangy, spacious, meandering. Great one and cool to hear you do something I didn't expect! Really enjoyed this!
A very tasteful sounddesign with only a guitar and fuzz. Greatly performed.
Some tasty distorted sounds that my ears enjoyed feasting on.
Right after the first few notes, I was like, “holy shit, Terry Kath!” Totally made me think of Free Form Guitar off the Chicago Transit Authority album (a track I love)…but with your musical feel and approach. Fantastic.
That distortion is absolutely delicious. What is the source of such rich chunkyness?
I have to agree with others, very nice distorted guitars (but not too much, we can still hear the guitar itself...)
Very cool!
I'm feeling a sudden onset of desire for an electric guitar. Damn you and thank you! I bet this sounded like heaven standing in the same room ... big sounds indeed.
agree with SQF, this has a meditative and cathartic sound to it. Like I'm angrily chopping wood and each progressive strike feels better (without the aches and pains). The sound of the guitars even tho way fuzzier and aggressive carries over from your previous week. An awesome sounding recording, the string sound, the fuzz oof hell yes and it fades out like the tide. I like to imagine you Eric Draven style mayhaps on a balcony or rooftop, one foot on the amp, the neck of the guitar gyrating \m/ This was a fun therapeutic listen, thank you!
What a gripping sound! That distortion feels so sweet, warm, and powerful.
So cruuunchy, sounds huge and gritty but also cozy? Feels really nicely balanced even though it's totally face-melting
Very enjoyable, the panning effect really gives the feeling of waves of distortion crashing from one side to the other.
The scenery spun from the rough fuzz guitar is grand and rugged like nature, yet it also evokes a sense of hope.
Cozy+Crunchy... did you just invent Cottage Core Metal? Great tone as always man, love the saturation on the guitars. And that bass... that's a thick boi. Awesome sound.
One big warm hug of fuzziness. The low grind notes on the open E (downtuned) is def tasty.
Such delicious, huge fuzz, warm and FULL, great production! I'm kind of slow head nod swaying, hypnotic and mesmerizing.
There's a kind of anticipation in the air like I'm waiting for drums and vocals to come in.
funny you should mention that, SQF... i sent this tune to Garth, my bandmate in the rutabega, and he slowed it down a bit and added drums. i then added some bass and vocals and we submitted it to WPRB's Jon Solomon for his 36th annual 25 Hour Holiday Radio Show.
if any of you are feeling down or lonely, or just need to hear some unique holiday tunes (or a calming voice from a true Radio Jedi) - i guarantee you will find some comfort here. also a great soundtrack to PARTY or ANNOY YOUR MORE TRAD FAMILY MEMBERS.
here’s everything you could possibly need while Jon hosts his 36th-Annual 25-Hour Holiday Radio Show live from home on WPRB between 5:00 pm ET on Christmas Eve and 6:00 pm ET on Christmas Day:
Jon Solomon's 25-Hour Holiday Radio Show
i'll make sure to swing back here to share the link to our song once it goes live (we'll wait to post it publicly till after Jon airs it).
take care of yourselves, and remember - you're not alone

what's funny is yr brother had asked me the same thing back when i posted this
i had a note saved to respond to you and just realized i never posted it. this was the info i sent to Matt:
so this was 2 takes with the clydesdale aluminum neck guitar. i had the low E tuned down to Bb and the high E tuned down to D. i didn't really have a plan, was just kinda fucking around and fell into that main riff.
it was just guitar into this overdrive pedal that i love from Heather Brown called The Blessed Mother, into my Warm WA73 preamp, into the UA Volt soundcard.
but then i made copies of both of those tracks and the copies had some different processing and panning from the original tracks. so there was some gain staging i guess you'd call it
one take had these plugins: BB Tubes > GTR amp sim > Airwindows ToTape8
and the copy had: Hoser EQ > LA-2A compressor > J37 tape sim on "electric guitar" setting > totape8
one of the lead tracks also has some ADT (automatic double tracking) kinda doing some subtle phasing stuff
and all went into a convolution reverb bus
(there was also more tape crunch on the master bus haha)
