neon liminal // ambient droning in the key of love & loss

i added vocals, acoustic guitar & bass and did the final mix with input & feedback from neon.

this was a joint effort from the jump. the lyrics were inspired by some of neon liminal's recent Pulsar Suite (including the "can you hear me" theme). i asked if he would want to collaborate by sending me an ambient drone in the key of B major after the Jender decided it wanted to be tuned down to B standard in this chilly basement. he sent over this incredible 12 + minute dream, and i got to work. i hope you find some comfort here.

>neon also loaded this one for his Week 50, so if you are here first - please make sure to head over to his page and show him some love.

thank you for listening. this one's for Max. heart

heart thank you again, Josh. heart

Beautiful stuff, both of you. Twelve minutes of much-needed serenity. heart

I'm really loving these longer form ambient pieces. Your singing is beautiful my friend and I live how you meticulous set the mood leading up to them. I felt totally immersed by the end. Well done and thank you!

Awesome collab! This is a beaut! I love the vocals

A heartbreaking but wonderful collaboration.  It's hard to tell where both your music flows into each others, if you mixed this you did a great job.  A beautiful piece of music.  RIP Max

This is beyond words. These ambient slowly building drown sounds, the guitar, the vocals, Max the dog. So beautiful. I lost my 16 year old dog last year, miss her dearly. RIP Max and neonliminal I know how you feel buddy. What a fantastic collaboration. You both are amazing artists.

Just came from neon liminal's page.  A beautiful and calming collab between you two.  The drone mixed with your guitars and vocals is seamless and sounds as one.  The lyrics are heartfelt and really hit in the chest.  Excellent work and a beautiful tribute to Max. heart

yes

It reminds me of the transcendental music by Spiritualized, Spacemen3, Experimental Audio Reserch and Sonic Boom. Thank you for this music in full length. You are a great duo.

Favorited.
Beautiful.
Thank you

A beautiful long moment. Thank you, Josh!

I'm without words... This is just beautiful. Just absolutely impressive work.

Such a warm cozy atmosphere to get engulfed in.  I was just floating along to the extended intro that I was surprised when the vocals came in, but then they took it up another notch.  Great work to the both of you.

Well done, both of you smile 12 minutes flew right by, beautiful.

❤️

Super dreamy.  Lovely stuff.  A glacial ebb and flow.

What a lovely track.  The vocal mix is sooooo good.  I love how much space you you were able to get. Really had a perfectly ethereal vibe, which worked SOOOO well with the track.  Great work.

added a video and a few notes up in the description. i've been in a fog since sunday evening!

speaking of being in a fog... i had sent miraclemiles some stems from my week 48 song and just today realized that he WENT TO TOWN with my simple stripped down sketch... and his son even added sax!! what an honor for me  heart

if you haven't already, please make sure to check out what they did when you get a chance:

thank you so much, lcb. i tried making trimming it down (i jokingly called the 9 min version the Radio Edit), but in the end we both agreed this one needed to take it's time to unwind.

oh thank you so much, Peter. the parts that neon sent over were so entrancing that it could have easily been posted as is. it was very inspiring to record with those sounds coming through the headphones.

really appreciate that, l.c. i think it's safe to say we were both in our feelings working on this.
and yeah, i did end up mixing it but neon's input and deep listening skills were invaluable. both in the mixing and finalizing stages.
