bouncing baby bunnies

By jwh on June 2, 2024 3:32 pm

we've got 2 little bunnies in the back yard, they are sooooo cute. the mom kinda comes and goes. she is so chill even when we are out there. it's been lovely to watch them do their thing.
i hope our little fenced-in back yard is a safe place for them. heart

Nice indy rock vibes.

I really like the dirty bass.

Fun vibe to this one.  The bass really provides that bunny hop feel.  Everybunny deserves a safe place.

I really dig the tone on all the guitar parts in this one. Also I can relate to the lyrics.  We had a family of Cardinals nest in the rose bush outside of our dining room window, and I found that I immediately got very protective of them.

Alright, no party here! But cool fuzz tones.

Oh, I like this style. When I listen I either hear Thurston Moore or Win Butler sing. You are so nicely old school indie.  Love it.

What a rocker, this is so fun! Love the combo of the gentle message of safety delivered with a more energetic tone. Killer whistling as well. We occasionally get a bunny or two but they don't seem to want to set up a residence here. Clearly I need to write them a song so they feel safe smile

oh the groove in this is infectious!  got me dancin in my chair immediately.  Such a fun bassline with how it walks up and down the E and D smile  "No stinky randos!" best line tongue  Go bunnies go!

sick! The guitar lick that compliments the verses is so great. Vocals are fantastic. Favoriting

IMPORTANT UPDATE EVERYONE. THERE ARE ACTUALLY FIVE BUNNIES!!!   yikes

thank you, that was all bass! i think it was 4 different bass tracks and then the one playing the higher lead part i duplicated and dropped it down an octave.
oh that is sweet, we love Cardinals. they are such great singers. i'm in a duo called forestlike and we've got a song called 'bird.' when i was working out the electric guitar part there was a cardinal singing outside my window and i tried to mimic it a bit with the guitar. smile

haha! ok - nice bunny parties are allowed, just no loud aggro macho parties! and thank you, fuzzy bass is hard to resist.

thank you, kindly! i was referred to recently as an "elder indie rocker"... kids these days!

thanks so much, SQF! i was having so much fun playing bass that i decided to play the high part on bass too  big_smile

have a great week, y'all!  heart

haha, that bunny gif from emily works perfect. I used to work till the wee hours of morning in grad school and that's when all the wild rabbits liked to come out. They weren't that safe from my bike, almost ran over them a few times! Great groove on this one and the lyrics are hilarious. Why no parties tho? Wouldn't mind this tune in a party

oh noes i'm back! downloading for personal enjoyment.. this song provides a jolt of smiles when needed.  and i was in a bit of a funk til that bassline started hoppin around again. thank yew smile

i def hit submit too soon.. May i ask what you used to make the drums sound so full and good?  The kick looks low in volume but it sounds so punchy and the snare has this awesome space to it.. Without trying to sound like such a fanboy lol, it amazes me how you can get so much nuance and catchy ideas in a 2min track.  h'ok i need to channel this energy into some chords meow.. thank you guys smile heart

Haha, love how you sing "no unhinged weirdos" in a distinctly Talking Heads way. Like, I'm not sure about THAT, my guy big_smile You know you're our party guy, right?

Joking aside, this is very good. All the important pieces to get the point across, no spurious ornament.

I like the heavy and positively trashy groove…nice to think that the bunnies are actually much more edgy and streetwise than their look would suggest smile. Very cool track, all in all. The drive is relentless!

So good!!! What drum processing you got going on

Awesome, love this sound. A gritty bop for the bunnies. Bunnies are neato. Looks like you have a nice yard for them to chill. Glad they are safe from unhinged weirdos and annoying party guys. But sometimes bunnies party just a little, in a not annoying way.

D'awwwwwwwwww, yay bunnies! There was a WB'er a few years ago who wrote some awesome bunny-themed tracks - hope they get to hear this one day. I love the sense of swagger in this track, like the most confident guy in the room invites a shy bunny to hang out and helps the bunny feel right at home by being plain awesome. big_smile

This is so enjoyable, like stated above the vocals are belted out with such confidence and swagger, great vibe, reminded me a bit of LCD soundsystem.  That time of year, my kids found a baby bunny hiding in the lilies in our backyard this afternoon, these bunnies are cute right now but eventually turn into giant hares.

love bunnies and love this! amazing bass playing and tone, really makes the whole track bounce along

straight no chaser, love it all!

I really love the shape and sound of the bass. The atmosphere of the song is also great!

thanks for listening and noticing and asking! i was pretty happy with how this turned out and flattered that you both wanted to know about my process.   heart

For whatever reason bunnies think my yard - with my four big dogs - is a safe space for their babies. Maybe it is, one of my dogs is basically a Disney princess.

Always a wonderful surprise, your music. I learn so much just listening to the mix and the space, and your ability to craft a mood and a musical aesthetic in such a small bit of time is inspiring. Also, I get really early arcade fire vibes from this.

thx so much! something about singing with the handheld mic gave me a boost of confidence i think. and yeah, when i was mixing i had the thought that this had some LCD vibes. i'm not familiar with a lot of their catalog, but i really like that 'This Is Happening' album.

thanks so much! i forgot how much i like playing bass through a guitar amp. in this case my Music Man 2x12 combo. gives it a nice mid range  growl. smile
