This was made using some samples my friend gave me of a track he was working on. I used the sounds as a palette to chop up and transforming it from a quirky fun tune into a more brooding emotional one. I made it into a song about the struggle to find a balance of a conventional sound and one with full creativity and experimentation.

You Wouldn’t Dance
[Chorus]
I’ve been holding on to this all day
High on my mind and it’s getting late
I hear the echo of the words you’d say
Oh you wouldn’t dance
No you wouldn’t dance
[Chorus]
I’ve been holding on to this all day
High on my mind and it’s getting late
I hear the echo of the words you’d say
Oh you wouldn’t dance
No you wouldn’t dance
[Verse 1]
I’m sorry that you’ve been in pain
But dry your cheeks and don’t say it’s the rain
We don’t have to speak about this again
You say you’ve got better plans
I’ve got better plans too
[Verse 2]
And I, I know that I can be wrong
But I, I feel like there’s something strong
And I, wanna try before it’s all gone
A dream we romance
A dream we romance
[Chorus]
I’ve been holding on to this all day
High on my mind and it’s getting late
I hear the echo of the words you’d say
Oh you wouldn’t dance
No you wouldn’t dance
[Bridge]
I understand you, you’ve been withdrawn
They’re not the ones you, want to belong
They chew you up, spit you out then make you sing another song
No you wouldn’t dance
No you wouldn’t dance
[Chorus]
I’ve been been holding to this all day
High on my mind and it’s getting late
I hear the echo of the words you’d say
Oh you wouldn’t dance
Oh you wouldn’t dance
