Swotting and Snogging

By Jim Wood on April 12, 2018 12:42 am

Title salvaged from previous unsatisfactory piece. Vocals: Pink Trombone, Kara Square "Hanging Eleven" (http://beta.ccmixter.org/files/mindmapthat/54335). F Minor.

The vocals have a nice sense of urgency to them and the beat makes me want to get up and dance.  And then the end makes me want to slow down and contemplate.  Nice job.

cool vox!
what type of effects do you use on them?

In general i quite like this, it is funky in a linear non-linear kinda way; Kudos!

Super fresh! Love the synth (organ?) and the intricate backing samples mingling with the vox, it's up there with Yuu Miyake for me big_smile

After working on stuff for a fairly long time, I'm no longer able to tell if it's valid or not. Thanks for your positive comments!

Thank you! The vox/organ is Pink Trombone (https://dood.al/pinktrombone/), an online model of the human voice. I used Autotune to match to the track's key.

so bouncy and crazy. the vocals work very good to the minimalistic funky beat. Your greatest dancefloor club hit ever. really love it.

Good and weird, it's like electronic avant-garde music, cool vocal work!

Great track! Makes me think of a movie scene where the club is full of people dancing, but at the same time reality is beginning to fall apart.

so cool and trippy and danceable! love the chordal instrument and vocals, somehow slightly reminds me a groovier version of the song Kid A by radiohead

super interesting/intricate stuff! Pink Trombone is absolutely wild, it sounds so uncanny & disorienting. Wild, wild track.

Yeah cool bounce on this one. As it started i was puzzled for a short moment because of that disco feel but than the voice came in i knew that i am on Jim Wood track wink
Very good!

omg you effectively used Pink Trombone!  I totally need to do this.  Your results are fantastic.  Great idea to auto tune them.

YES!  BRILLIANT!

Interesting vocal manglizing! The deep kick and percussion drive the track very nicely.  Well done!

I look forward to hearing your track every week and you knocked this week out of the park. Vox are legit!

Made me want to dance in the beginning. Awesome vocal sounds. I hadn't heard of pink trombone until today. I clicked over to that in another browser tab and started playing around while our song played. Had a fun little jam smile)

Yeah, Pink Trombone is definitely one of the better discoveries out there.

that was just my dance for your song smile

Hypnotic and irresistible!

Really dig the spacial elements of this mix and your usual skills of mangling/chopping vocal samples in a very musically rhythmic way.
