Farewell to a hot Summer: synthesized insect soundscape. Random M4L LFOs controlling arpeggiator speeds. Varying tempo, centered on 102 bpm.

Very cool soundscape, definitely evokes that insect vibe!

Thanks! I don't know why so many people are anti-insect (except for those tiny ants that get into everything— but even those have to be admired for their enthusiasm).

summer never has to end TT__TT this song will immortalize it heart

I get a very strong sense of a swarm of insects during a late summer twilight.  I can see them flocking around the streetlamps as they turn on.

Well then, mission accomplished!

I love the sound design here, although I have to raise my hand as one of those anti insect people! I have to admit that these ones sound very nice though heart

very nice!

i'm on the side of the summer noise makers - i'm gonna miss those guys:

Well yeah, I'm not crazy about cockroaches (although the altitude seems to be a barrier for them here). But the crickets sometimes last to the beginning of November (chirping real l l l l ly slowly).

i actually thought that was a dancing cicada - ha!  also some people say this might be a hoax but did you hear this story about cricket sounds slowed way down?

NPR link seems to be broken, but they had an interesting article on "insects in music."

i can't find the original link - i think it was on "hearing voices" - here's something about it on soundcloud:

whatever the sound is it's cool

Certainly does evoke the sound of a swarm of insects. These insects sound a bit too swarm-like and unpredictable for us to be friends though. I don't mind insects as long as they keep to their area.

Thanks! I also just discovered this free plug-in: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/reaktor-community/reaktor-user-library/entry/show/9213/

Might be fun.

Thanks! One person's tranquil is another person's...

Robot bees! Like that one Black Mirror episode! This is so good!

Freaky summer fun. I hear the insects ... and more ... much more...

Great trip! It´s organic and industrial at the same time... like something from the Forbidden Planet!

Excellent soundscape, insects in the wild sounding like this would probably freak me out, but in the comfort of my headphones they're wonderful.

The tempo fluctuation nails the insect-like feel.  This sounds like everything I see when I leave the porch light on up in the Catskills.  Including the alien spaceships known to circle the area. I could see this as the sound of someone's eurorack evolving into a new insect lifeform. Very cool!

Glad you enjoyed the journey!

I can just picture these electronic insects leaving intricate light trails and halos as they traverse the night sky, excellent blend of free flowing and rhythmic phrases heart

Oh man! I wanna try this too! Super nice sounds. I'll definitely try this! Sounds so grainy / granular.

this is a little creepy, definitely evokes a gang of cicadas.

Yes. We all remember the Insectoid Cultural Revolution and Mao's Little Green Book.
