Returned for Refund

By Jim Wood on November 2, 2018 11:15 pm

Recounting the tale of an Amazon return and a negative product review. Shortly after, I received an e-mail from "Vnsvtzhptty Mjyzpsc" (I'm not making this up!). Part of the message inspired this song, as sung by AlterEgo's Marie Ork:

Our company have check
all items
again at once
to avoid the similar
situation happening again

The e-mail ended with an offer of a gift card if I would remove my negative review.

Way to make something good out of a bad situation! I like the dial-tonesque synths, they have a nice ring to them! Fun fact, if you google "Vnsvtzhptty Mjyzpsc" it returns this page smile

I think I went to high school with a Vnsvtzhptty Mjyzpsc.  He (or possibly she) was such a cut up, always offering gift card in lieu of confusing human interaction. Your track sounds like every interaction I've ever had with Amazon if something goes wrong.  The TTS of the cryptic message craked me up. Hope it all works out.

Clever and hilarious.

Cool track, and a nice way to get inspiration from a bad experience.

Now I'm imagining that this how a slightly dysfunctional customer service robot sounds.

It took me 4 chats with Amazon customer services; I have not heard from (Mr?) Mjyzpsc since. Perhaps he said his name backwards.

AI still has a way to go before it can take over. ::)

It's a very surreal track, really like the overall vibe a lot, it's cool that inspiration can come from anywhere!

Ha, great story. That name looks someone just slammed their fingers down on keyboard randomly. This has a somber feeling, sad the product didn't work out. Great voice, fun to picture mister Valjoirlasdf  Mlasdjr in that Voice  So, did you take the gift card?

Indeed it can.

No, but apparently a number of people did, since all the other reviews were uniformly positive (and strangely ungrammatical).

I really dig the mood on this. I have to give it 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Interesting vocal line with the pulsing kick.  I had a similar problem with an amazon retailer, but minus the keyboard mash of a name smile  The ending has an uplifting and positive outlook to it.  I hope your refund ended this way too smile

The refund wasn't a problem (Amazon came through quickly) — it was the multiple pleas from the company that were annoying.

Enjoyed reading the backstory on this one.  That name is truly hilarious.  And at least the whole misadventure led to an awesome track!
