Primate Conversation

By Jim Wood on December 29, 2018 7:39 pm

Appropriately enough, this piece is based on an earlier one, "Bacteria." Vocals: Exodus Loadabowl (!) "Never As It Seems" (https://soundcloud.com/exodus-loadabowl/sets/originals) and PattsiPeng "Unsaid" (http://dig.ccmixter.org/files/NessoR/41815). Roughly Db Major.

At the close of this year's WB, I'd like to thank my fellow posters for providing a cornucopia of truly inspirational music. It's been a pleasure to post alongside all of you!

A perfect bookend for 2018. I like your choice of title, it fits nicely! I'd like to thank you as well, had a great time listening to your music this year, nobody plays with voices quite like you do! Happy new year Jim!

And thank you, Gab, for some of the best synthwave (make that an expanded definition) I've experienced!

Like the waves of synth flowing in and out, thanks for providing us with all these unique pieces of music all year and making us scratch our head "how did he make that sound?"  Hope to see you in 2020!

Fun track - Cheers smile

Jim, thanks for all the other-worldly compositions. I should have guessed you were AV Club, as you stated in a prior comment. I envision you working with tape and razor in the tactile world before digital killed the splicing bar. Maybe I need to spend 2019 trying to figure out how you do what you do smile

The primates have much to say. The pitch bending of tones devolves to the point where they become cellos and the voices, accordion bellows. Together they make a very rich texture.

As a former member of the Radio Electronics Club, I salute you and bow down to the superior technology of the AV Club. Have a great new year and hope to hear more in 2020. Best wishes, Mike

Great work this year, Jim. From catchy as heck to terrifying, you've definitely got some of the most unique tracks of 2018, and certainly some of my favorites. Happy new year.

A great capper on the year.  Thanks for all the trippy music and voice manipulations!

The AV experience was very fundimental; I still tend to think of everything in terms of tape loops (although it's all digital now). smile

Those brassy wavey chords are very pleasing smile  Especially the lower range mixing with the vocals.  Best of luck in 2019!
