Notational Modification (Heaven's Gate mix)

By Jim Wood on August 31, 2018 11:00 pm

New shoes for everybody! Voices from beyond: "Cults" podcast, "Heaven's Gate pt.2," sliced by moving iTunes playhead manually and re-recording with Audio Hijack. E Minor Pentatonic.

Very cool, sounds mysterious, really reminds me of a Holly Herndon track!

I have a couple of her tracks; I can see the connection.

Love the ambiance, the lush reverbs and heartbeat-tempo, feels like exploring secret underground tunnels on an unknown planet heart

There definitely is an air of mystery to this.  Parts of it feel like you're overhearing whispered chants or something.

That's Hale-Bopp talking back.

Has a scary and ominous feel.  Darker sounding than your previous tracks. Even the voice samples are more cold than warming as a human voice typically lends itself to a track. Love the idea of manually dragging the play head in iTunes and capturing the audio. Very inventive!

Chilling and haunting... I love it!

Well, Heaven's Gate = mass suicide, so bit of a downer there. At least they were wearing their Nikes and not burning them.

Thanks, guys! There will be more playback head manipulation to come, I'm sure.

I love "scrubslice" music!  Also shout out to AudioHijack for being one of the most helpful music utilities.

Dark topic, but nice track!

Great track, with a properly ghostly atmosphere. Well done!

Super cool idea with audio hijack and iTunes.  It's like your scrolling thru a digital radio in a planetarium smile  Audio hijack is very handy too.  I always use it to record my fav movie/tv quotes for future use (aka a giant folder that goes untouched)

Well, since my name is James Reid Wood, not wrong at all. ::) Thanks for the comments!

Great idea, and great result! Actually kind of pretty to me, in places at least.

This is great...very cinematic in my opinion. Lovely beats and I like the movement the various elements seem to have all along. Great work, one of your best in my opinion!

Very dark, very creative use of the iTunes slider! Super Spooky Stuff.

also, thank you for the shoes

Yeah! That's indeed super dark, the voices make it pretty spooky. And totally cinematic like the aforementioned comments!

Great atmosphere to the track and I'm always a fan of reverb.  I dig the primitive sample capturing when recorded too.  I like!
