Move Over I'll Drive

By Jim Wood on August 8, 2014 12:59 am

Somewhat more aggressive this week.Tim Exile's THE FINGER on melody & vocal tracks; randomizer on the MIDI control track to lively things up a bit. A M4L LFO changing FM synth algorithms at random. Vox: WNYC podcast "Shorts: Loop the Loop."

Definitely more aggressive. There's a bit of a drill-like quality to some of the sounds.  And yet there seems to be a a kind of bouncy upbeat vibe to this as well that's hard to resist.  I dig it.

Woah woah, jeez! Okay okay I get it, you can drive!

Super chaotic but also really relaxing somehow? super rad

mayyyyybe I should take my own car then...

Interesting what happens when you let a plug-in steer :-)

Didn't want to give anyone the impression I was getting too mellow.

Thanks! Are those the ice cream sandwiches that don't melt?

:-)

This is really cool. That randomizer definitely livens things up and thanks for sharing how you got there in your description...I've been using the M4L LFO more thanks to you.

I enjoy giving things a good fingering sometimes.  I haven't for quite a while though.  I wonder if that means anything?  hah

That LFO is on almost everything I do, it's amazing! Bitwig has it built in to most of their instruments but it seems too time consuming to learn a whole new system.

if peewee's playhouse were to film a new episode, i'd like to hear this playing smile  nice work!

It's kind of like salt on food :-)

Too relaxed and under control by far.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light!

Not to mention expensive.

I'll see what Paul's schedule is like...

Thank you all for the positive comments!

infact it sounds more aggressive but also way more elaborated to me. Randomizer and lfo do a really good work on bringing this to live even more.

Weirdness!

Yeah, I'm going to have to be careful in the future not to overdo the LFO thing.

I'll presume that's a good kind of weirdness :-)

Thanks to both of you!

Wonderful weirdness, in my opinion. Really hits the sweet spot for me where it's interesting and unusual but still highly listenable.
