Coma Song

By Jim Wood on August 26, 2016 5:56 pm

Vocal samples: Zefora (https://soundcloud.com/zefora). Individual notes, detuned and paulstretched. Badly-played Chapman Stick tidied-up in Live.

Very nice! In a slightly unsettling way.
You've created a very exciting palette of sound from the vocals, and the Chapman Stick works really well.

There's a weird and awesome dissonance going on here that has my brain a bit frazzled.

Abstract sound collage of beautiful organic sounding samples and notes. Weird and dissonant indeed.
It makes fun to listen to it. Bravo.

I just slipped into another space place if you will. yessir!

There's almost a vague Eastern vibe to this, but like through the filter of a nightmare.  Awesome track!

Brilliantly done! It might be 'wrong' but it sounds so 'right'.....

Second that: "through the filter of a nightmare", what a journey! I gotta go find out what a Chapman Stick is.

You have a Chapman Stick?!  I came so close to buying one many years ago at the height of my King Crimson madness!  Great vibe with this track.  Really dig it.  More chapman!  smile

It's a ten string model in the so-called baritone/bass tuning. I can't say I ever got that proficient (certainly not Tony Levin level).

I could imagine it'd take quite a bit of dedication to become proficient on it.  10 strings is plenty!  From memory the Grande had 12?!  I was always curious on the split electronics with them too.  A cool instrument.
