Happy second half! I thoroughly enjoyed watching SGDQ this year. So nice to see people back in the room, cheering and getting hype. It inspired this ending scroll to some imagined Blaster Master-like video game. The heroes have won and are driving off into the night through a dark tunnel lined with industrial lamps.

All M8 for this. I've used a lot of different combinations of gear over the first half of this challenge, but when I look back most of my favorite tracks have come from the M8. Part of that is the M8 being a quick sequencer this giving me more time to polish stuff. Part is it’s so portable I can compose in otherwise infeasible places (again giving me more time to polish). And part is having a full 8 tracks to spread out compared to the 4 of, say, my Elektron all-in-ones.

But part is just its synth engines are a great cross section of the sounds in my brain. When I hear a sound in my head, it's so quick to get there from 8-bit-like waves or FM. And if that fails, I have purpose-built machines from Braids or samples to bail me out. To have that all in one place, on the go, has really made a difference to me (and, I hope, to the quality of my work here).
