This started as an exploration of the M8’s limiter and pushing it really hard. I don’t normally use it so wanted to play around, but ended up stumbling on a theme I kind of liked so backed way off on the limiter and just sort of wrote a song instead.
Having the limiter on from the start (it ended up around 0x60 or so) and mixing into it was so much more musical and less frustrating than trying to add it at the end. I guess that’s what everyone says about master bus compressors, right? Not sure why I thought this would be different :-)
Everything here's from the M8’s synth engines and FX. Actually a good mix of wave, macro, and FM this time with lots of LFOs. I really can’t get enough of the sound design options in the M8. It’s ruined a lot of other really-amazing-but-only-sample-based sequencers for me.
