a running theme

“how to deal with unrepentantly loud neighbors you’re not in charge of, which seems to be a running theme of adulthood.” ― Samantha Irby, Wow, No Thank You.

ahh, I'm sorry, yes unfortunately that quote sounds about right! for me, it's the cars/trucks revving their engines as loud as possible to prove... something. anyway, you have made a beautiful tune out of a shitty experience. you have gained command of a whole lower octave. once the groove settles in, it's delicious.

I just want to sleep too. good luck with yours. heart

Loud neighbors are the worst.  Especially if you have to get up early for work or something, but it's never nice not to be able to sleep.  The bass on this is huge and grooves mightily.

This is such a great song emily. Born out of terrible circumstances. But seriously awesome.

So good. I long for the quiet moments alone.

you take us to a beautiful trip hop area here. So relaxed and fine sounding tones. very well done.

Damn Emily, this is my new fav! Love this vocal style and the pacing is just right. Sorry about the crappy situation with the neighbors but loving this track!

“Oh lady calm down” hits different. Sending you love and warmth: a tender and touching piece of music as always. (I think the ending a cappella is spectacular sounding with filtering / distortion, a very important pause-and-think sorta moment!)

Oooh loving the laid back trip hop vibes to this.  The piano stab with the delays sounds great.  Super catchy bassline too.  Had me nodding my head along in a dark and smoky nightclub scene.  I too have loud neighbors.  Le sigh.

Wow - wild bass on this one (KRK sub in the studio!)  Super moody; love this vibe.  (also ended up watching a bunch of
Participant videos!! Samantha Irby such a legend)

Thank you for all your nice comments friends - I'm sad to hear so many people are dealing with noise pollution... I hope you are all having a restful weekend.

You ever have those moments where you're out somewhere at night, or just walking down the street alone with headphones on, and a song comes on that makes you feel like you're twice as cool all of a sudden for some reason? This is one of those songs. heart

well that just totally made my day - thank you heart

ahhh, every time i remember to listen to your music, I'm just in so much awe, your work is so entrancing.

I really relate on this track, as someone who also experiences sensory overload. When I used to take public transit, people would make all sorts of noises and gestures trying to make me uncomfortable/get my attention, and I sort of had to develop an attitude which somehow communicated to them that I didn't give a fuck about them- sometimes that meant making my own noises, dropping heavy books and waging passive aggressive noise warfare. It was pretty zany

Love the portamento-ish bass, your close/far away vocals and the overall trip-hop sound... Definitely late night vibes, feeling like I'm driving home in the rain at 2am.

love this image - thank you

Wow that bass, love it. And this calm flowing groove, love that too, great chords. We're all in this together I guess, even those neighbors. Vocal sound good, very up front in the mix, I like that. Oh to empathize with them, so hard but helpful sometimes?
